Actions like this once again raise the question: What is Carney's endgame? What, in his mind, do digital sovereignty and "Canada Strong" even mean?

Fighting foreign interference should be a core Canadian national security priority. But if even being at a conference where the United States is named -- accurately -- as a foreign interference actor is a bridge too far for this government, then they've already conceded the game.

The Alberta separation referendum is a VERY dangerous kind of vote, & that’s exactly what Russian and American operatives are counting on…separatists will have a 100% turnout, while media reports that separation is unpopular make it seem like general turnout isn’t necessary. Turnout wins elections.

Carney lies. Campaigned on no public service cuts, then made the biggest cuts since the 1990's. He delivered affordability relief with tax cuts which gave the majority of money (>$3B) to the wealthiest Canadians. He benefits the wealthy on the public dime. It's not clear it benefits Canada.

A key component of the Cambridge Analytica outrage was your friends subjecting you to data theft without your consent or knowledge. Facebook is running the same playbook on your text messages. Even if you’re not on Meta properties, they’re ingesting your interactions.
Aten installed Muse on both his iPhone and a Mac mini that he uses to test out various Al agents and tech. It took Meta a single day to begin "helpfully" pitching article ideas based on texts he'd sent to a podcast co-host.
When he asked Muse how it got the information, it said that it read banners from incoming texts. But that's not true, either.
After doing a little digging, Aten says Muse synced 187,000 lines from his Messages database, despite Full Disk Access being Off.Unless Aten is the most popular person on the face of the planet, I sincerely doubt he'd gotten 187,000 lines of text in roughly 24 hours. What happened is that, without permission, Muse went into the app and downloaded the information.
He had not given Muse permission to access Messages, and full disk access was not enabled. It just went ahead and uploaded those texts anyway.
Muse can take "unexpected actions" indeed.

I’m not going to suggest that Covid is the only thing at play here because this is most definitely multifactorial, but I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this kind of thing is so noticeable since 2020; see this excerpt from Jason Gale’s book After Covid:
Excerpt from Jason Gale’s book After Covid:

thankfully, they aren't dying- but the virus is targeting areas that shape cognition and personality."
Young Adults, Repeat Infections, and Compounding Risks
Even mild infections have been linked to difficulty concentrating and processing information among young adults. These cognitive problems can persist and often worsen after physical or mental ex-ertion, making it harder for people to work, socialize, or return to school.
A 2024 study by the Patient-Led Research Collaborative found that repeat infections further erode the protective effects of vaccines and increase the risk of severe fatigue, postexertional malaise, and other Long Covid symptoms, findings that mirror earlier work by epidemiologist Ziyad Al-Aly.27 "This is my biggest concern, particularly for younger people," Beckman said. "Each infection raises the risk of Long Covid. What's frustrating for me and a lot of scientists is that it doesn't feel like leadership is listening. We're going to pay the price in a few years. It's definitely cumulative."
Most of the damage is invisible-no limp, no scar, just the sense that something has changed. A word that won't come. A name that slips away. A sharpness that used to be there. For researchers like Beckman, the question now isn't whether Covid affects the brain but how many people are living with the aftermath, unaware of

AP Stylebook warns against anthropomorphizing AI systems: “Avoid language that gives them human characteristics… Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.”
APStylebook @APStylebook

Artificial intelligence systems do not think, feel, want or understand. Avoid language that gives them human characteristics. This is called anthropomorphizing, when we ascribe human traits, emotions or behaviors to non-human things, such as animals or inanimate objects.
Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.
