I just got notified that I was the victim of a data breach from a summer job I held more than 20 years ago, and I feel like there should be some laws with teeth to hold these companies accountable for their data retention and security practices.

Not too odd, but my first job as a young teenager was assisting with private swimming lessons for little kids an older woman did in her backyard pool. She almost never got in the water, kept apologizing to parents for how incompetent I supposedly was, and then was shocked when I quit after 3 weeks.

Streets are mostly clear, but the path between the house and my car is solid ice and very treacherous. My mom and I were going to get groceries, but she didn’t feel safe crossing, so we stood on opposite sides of the ice patch yelling our plans and I had to go without her like in Land Before Time.

I was there and this was a great service! I had 2 shirts and some sandals repaired, and not only did the craftspeople do an amazing job, but also the library social media staff respected my desire not to be on video because I was in messy hair weekend mode. 😂

(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.
