Cardiff Council are trying to kick 17 families out of their homes for alleged links to the 2023 riots. This is disgraceful behaviour from the council. They have no desire to help those in need and instead look to punish those who were expressing anger over a devastating event in their community.

The Welsh government is running a consultation on the administration and enforcement of council tax in the country. This is an opportunity for us to shape the direction of council tax collection. This includes the use of bailiffs, a long time enemy of ACORN members everywhere!
The situation is a dire one - in the last year, 1.2 million more people have fallen into council tax arrears. Across the UK, the total arrears was £7.5 billion in 2024. Households on the lowest incomes spend more than three times as much of their income on Council Tax as the richest. Tens of thousands of families are struggling to keep up with extortionate council tax rates, and bailiff companies are making millions from robbing them. We aren't going to put up with these lowlife scum thinking they can rip us off.

Any money you donate goes directly to providing struggling families with packages not only of tins but also plenty of fresh produce. We also cater these packages to dietary and religious requirements. This isn't cheap but people deserve to not have to live on baked beans and canned soup alone.
