I was volunteering for NDP in 2024 and remember this clearly. In 12 ridings people who voted for the Green Party, many of them with good intentions, ended up splitting the votes and electing a conservative MLA instead.

Alberta’s NDP just flipped Calgary-Shaw. CBC reports Kyle Campbell won with about 47%, defeating the UCP’s Mike Derry by only 582 votes. It’s the NDP’s first win there since 2015. One byelection isn’t a province-wide verdict, but is this a warning sign for the UCP?
