Cleveland Cilffs, owner of the plant, was a major supporter of Trump's run for the Presidency. Put them into bankruptcy and buy the assets and nationalize the steel industry. No discussion just do it.

We're long past due for a broad public policy on good corporate citizenship. If you're too big to fail, you're too big to be for profit. If you're not willing to work with the people in good faith in times like these, you get nationalised. And you're bought out at punishing, fire sale share prices.

If public money is used to keep a plant afloat, job protection shouldn’t be a handshake. Support should come with enforceable employment conditions and clawbacks when companies break them.
