This Film often has the piss taken out of it for being a rather sedentary piece about 2 people just talking a lot — BUT — it has one of the most brilliantly prescient monologues imho. MY DINNER WITH ANDRE (1981) Have a listen.

I talked this week about the mental health crisis afflicting young people, in particular the isolation and loneliness caused by the neoliberal smashing of society. Everyone needs community. Everyone needs belonging. We cannot survive without them.

Corvids hang upside down hanging on to a branch ornithologists view this acrobatic behaviour as a relaxed way for the intelligent corvids to test their balance, strength, and coordination. This acrobatic behaviour builds muscle, and improves agility which they use for reaching for food.

VIA earthlyimagine: What does extinction sound like? Listen to the haunting silence of an ecosystem gradually dying out over half a century. Britain’s woodlands, meadows, & gardens were alive w/a dense symphony of birdsong. Today, those voices are dropping out, leaving behind an eerie, quiet void.

oh yeah, in terms of good news- I haven't seen anyone talking about this??? In short- worst case scenario of 4C warming by 2100 is no longer possible, new worst-case is 2.8C now DOES NOT MEAN we just relax- the only way we got here is through hard work- but it means THE HARD WORK IS WORKING

Mother Earth is literally choking on greenhouse gases, yet humanity is still busy with the very activities driving us toward extinction. Climate change isn’t a future problem—it’s happening right now. Over the next 7 days, let’s unpack how we got here and how we fix it. 👇

Happy Wednesday.
In case you forgot:
We live on a planet where whales sing songs that travel for miles.
Where trees can recognize their own offspring and protect them underground.
Where dolphins give each other names and where lightning can create glass in the sand.
Where horses can read human emotions.
Where rain has a smell before it even arrives and where the ocean can glow in the dark.
And where stars we see might not even exist anymore.
