FYI, SCOTUS has denied certiorari in the case of a Phila judge suspended from the bench for FB posts about politics. So Mark Cohen's suspension (leading to mandatory retirement age) stands, and what's left is litigation over whether he loses he entire 50-yr state pension or just his 7 judicial yrs.

Having researched it in a little depth, this reads as below the level of care WWI military medicine aspired to as a matter of course.

Stuff like this makes me think the mega blue wave is real. Campaigns need a convergence of evidence — polling, volunteer enthusiasm, conversations at the door — to make decisions like this.

The easiest stuff that can save life and limb needs to be automatic and trained to failure. Otherwise… you just fail. People just fail at TCCC when not trained to automatic.

I've been roundly mocked for suggesting that a SECDEF's actions could very easily kill people, that NO, the US military is simply too big, too "institutional." Then they killed that kid at Lackland with their vaccine horseshit, and fewer grunts trained in Combat Lifesaver will have real impact.

The administration hates and punishes those that would sacrifice themselves for others.
Lincón spent seven weeks getting specialized outpatient care at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland, before being sent home to Kansas. Shrapnel is still in his back because it was too close to his spinal cord to remove without risking being left paralyzed. He struggles with dizziness that disrupts his life, he said.
He was awarded the Purple Heart and is back on active duty as an instructor at Fort Leavenworth. But his troubles continued beyond medical care.
Lincón, who was born in Texas to Mexican parents, was issued only a temporary one-year passport after his passport was blown up in the attack and he was asked for additional documentation to prove his U.S. citizenship. After the AP reached out to the State Department to inquire about his case, the 1995 West Point graduate said he received a call saying the request for more information was a mistake and he would be receiving a passport that would be good for 10 years.
"I'm American enough to have fought in three different wars," Lincón said.

This is categorically insane and I understand why active duty folks are willing to put their name on it. This is so beyond the pale of unacceptable.

I, like many people, have become very, very wary of the left pivoting to making "Zionist" an all-encompassing identity that can be selectively weaponised. It's totally unnecessary. If you want to condemn the state of Israel, you don't need to bring anything else into it.

Obviously I'm talking about the Greens and Zionism. And I don't necessarily disagree with their *very specific* condemnation. I just don't think everyone thinks "Zionism" means precisely that, and therefore, "motion to condemn Zionism" is such a fucking radioactive thing to say.

Even if the condemnation of what is being described is valid, you're using a term that doesn't have a strict definition, so it sounds more broadly applicable than intended, and that is not a mistake you can afford to make.

The problem is, you can't really say "we condemn this thing" and then only explain in the small print that you are using one particular definition of "this thing" and very specifically not any other definitions, even though a lot of other people use those definitions and will react accordingly.

If we had a federal government that wasn't firmly up the ass of Big AI, they'd make it a crime for an AI to put people in mortal danger by sending them into wilderness areas with fictional instructions. If a human kept doing this, they'd probably go to jail, even under existing laws.

This ancient Greek figure from the 2,500 year-old Douris Cup looks uncannily like someone working on a laptop! 😲 💻 He’s actually writing with a stylus on a hinged wax writing tablet! The technology has changed, the posture has not! 😂 Altes Museum, Berlin 📷 by me
My photo shows detail from an ancient Greek red-figure kylix (drinking cup) of a young man shown in profile seated on a stool facing right. He wears a knee length cloak (himation) over his left shoulder, which is shown in folds around his waist and upper legs. His right shoulder, chest, and arms are bare. His dark hair is short, and he wears a band around his head. He is looking down at an open rectangular wax writing tablet which he is supporting in his left hand above his lap. In his right hand he holds a metal stylus pen poised over the writing tablet. The wooden writing tablet is hinged like a book and, from this angle, resembles a modern laptop. The figure is part of a scene depicting school lessons in ancient Athens, painted by Douris around 480 BC. On display at the Altes Museum in Berlin.
