Teaching world literature at a public regional in S. Louisiana sometimes draws skepticism about why my students "need" what I teach. But I don't care about need. I care about access. As Wilson provides here. Why should students at Princeton get access to these works but not my students at Nicholls?

Here’s the thing, though. There is absolutely a place for AI use - this is one. But: there is immense value and pleasure and benefit from working slowly through an archive / problem yourself rather than letting AI doing it for you. Efficiency is not always the right value.

Just had Canvas stop working as I was typing comments on a student paper. I now can’t access anyone’s work or grades. Strangely, this never happened back when I used a grade book and had students email me their papers, a system no shareholders extracted money from.
