Gender critical campaigners are unable to operate within the member democracy of their trade unions, and so have to rely on wealthy donors for lawfare, in the hope that the UK judiciary will stand against human rights and democracy.

A please @labouruk.bsky.social, stop saying that it's up to us to stop Reform. YOU could stop a Reform government in 2029, by introducing the proportional representation so many in the country have been clamouring for. The only way Farage can win is through our crazy first-past-the-post system.

Reposting this THREAD 🧵 by @alexashman.bsky.social as an image because it is probably the most accurate summary of the BMA findings; includes alt text so use that if you want a tidied-up text version. This is what it REALLY said without all the editorialising.
Ok, so here's the real headlines from the newly-published BMA critique of Cass:

1) the evidence being weak means it does not clearly support treatment withdrawal either;

2) the policy decisions by NHS and government went beyond what Cass recommended;

3) the Report did not undertake timely engagement with patient groups and failed to use co-production;

4) some recommendations (46% of those examined) in the Review were only partially supported or not supported by the cited evidence;

5) there is potential for patient harm given the lack of established replacement provision following the closure of GIDS.

‪
The BMA critique is a compromise between 'viewpoints' (you know the ones) but these themes shine through. The key thing is that a ban on affirming treatment was not supported and represents a policy creep/extension by government.

Just waiting on a link to share the full report, but don't believe what The Times or BMJ say, it's not that simple.

Well, in this case, green party disciplinary procedure gives the leadership no part in it, except as 1 vote each on urgent green party council decisions on serious cases. Zack would be going against procedure if he demanded to overrule any of these decisions.

Didn't the original EHRC report into antisemitism criticise Corbyn and his office for trying to direct the disciplinary process? Isn't it true that, therefore, Zack CANNOT have anything to do with decisions regarding dropping antisemitic candidates?

A few decades ago, the British press said the same about Martina. They called lesbians sexual predators for changing in the same rooms as “vulnerable” or “normal” (read: heterosexual) women. The media’s transphobia is recycled homophobic trash. So it’s even more perverse when gay folk say it.

Small campaigns and charities are where it's at! (I say this having worked for Greenpeace, Save the Children and Oxfam.) In fact, all things being equal, small organisations are better for just about everything and anything.

I can confirm this as one of the "test cohort" in 2016/17 who got death threats, stalking & sexual harassment. In the most egregious case, Met police told me he was "just a dick". Only after Jo Cox was assassinated did the popo take a reluctant interest. Turns out this guy went on to rape.
