I was looking for a specific quote in Cobain's work that really just screams "I am a trans woman," but there's an excellent article at queerty.com by @punkgroucho.bsky.social (I think) on the topic, and I recommend everyone read it. www.queerty.com/was-kurt-cob...

Watching the New York Times become, not for the first time, an organ of bigotry and disinformation, seeing this happen in slow motion due to the influence of a tiny handful of hateful, arrogant twits like Sulzberger and Pamela Paul, is as frustrating as any experience imaginable. But we will win.

How the nyt used the Cass report to restart its anti-trans propaganda campaign in the US: Coverage of the report was initially assigned to a nyt UK correspondent, usual practice for a UK report. The story being prepared cited critics who called Cass a shoddy, political document that defied science

A fun thing about that Trump report is the admin is also telling the Supreme Court to only apply rational basis review to bans on this health care, meaning states wouldn't have to actually prove their claims in court (a thing states with bans have never actually done under heightened scrutiny)

this claim is circulating and it isnt true. here's direct quotes from mcbride taken from the same article (non-paywalled archive.ph/jdO0O, as of this post site has this same text) only thing that was changed was the framing, not mcbride's beliefs or statements. fact check urselves

“We have to create more space in our tent. If, for instance, we want to have a majoritarian coalition — not just electorally, but specifically on issues around trans rights — that, by necessity, is going to have to include people who have a range of thoughts,” McBride told NOTUS.

“A binary choice between being all-on or all-off is not constructive for anyone,” McBride continued. “It impedes the very needed path toward winning electorally, winning hearts and minds and, most importantly, winning progress.”

Some members — like Reps. Seth Moulton and Tom Suozzi, both of whom have recently met with McBride — received immediate intraparty backlash for publicly saying they oppose having trans athletes participate in women’s and girls’ sports. McBride thinks that type of response is unproductive.

“I think it is an incredibly problematic instinct that many have to excommunicate people who aren’t in lockstep with you on every policy, or even aren’t in lockstep with you on the messaging,” she said.

McBride is by no means the only House member who has been ruminating on the topic.

Public comment is now open for passport gender marker changes. You can go here to go to each of the three proposed passport rules, and submit comment. My suggestion: be unique, argue for trans-inclusive policies, against the constitutionality of the changes, etc. www.reddit.com/r/Passports/...

There are 3 public comment portals under the Paperwork Reduction Act. Make sure to comment on all 3. You can use the same comment for all of them. These comments are important for litigation and can be used as evidence of violating administrative procedures in changing the rules.

Reactionaries want transgender people dead because, to them, having a transgender child fucks up their familial property relations (family as property, not property of the family). It shows how deep seated and pathological their fear of their own children is, any independent thought is a threat.

for a critic, negative reviews can hold tremendous value for both artists and audiences. but the vast majority of negative book reviews aren't criticism, they're consumer complaints equivalent to whining to a mcdonald's manager that they don't have clam chowder

To work in DC now is to understand that the genocide in Palestine is not a mistake. The people actually in charge are doing this. Your job is a farce. Your work means nothing. The very top echelons are shredding everything you stood for. You will never afford a house in Washington. If you have a catastrophic health emergency, even you will need to turn to GoFundMe, and every day when you open your phone you see children mangled alive with weapons that you know legally should not be delivered.
