Volunteering at the food bank this morning and we had to discard 4 cases of Taylor Farms salad bowls that were donated by a local grocery chain a couple of days ago. They gave us recalled food knowing it was contaminated, and wrote it off as a donation. 🤬

Our Foster Momma of 6 pups (11 weeks old) is no longer nursing and was spayed on Tuesday. She had a meet &greet today and found her forever home with a retired lady who instantly fell in love with momma. They will be a comfort to each other. My heart is overjoyed that she is going to a great home!

My "choice" was to stay home as I was a latchkey kid growing up in the 60s as both my parents worked and did not want that for our kids. However, staying home put us with high debt/low income for many years, but the cost of daycare vs my income would not be worth it ... so really no choice.

My first child was born in 1980 and I had the same issue then. I was damned if I worked, and damned if I stayed home with the kids. I chose to stay home and that has it's own set of issues. I was told that I was not doing enough and that staying home was the lazy choice.

I was born &raised in California. My family has roots in the Salinas Valley since 1850s. After my husband &I married in 1978 we could not afford a home, even then. We moved leaving family and friends to Sacramento, where at the time, prices were a third of the real-estate offered in our home area.

So let me say it as clearly as I can: Without basic scientific research, supported by the kind of farsighted public investment that allows large-scale, undirected, curiosity-driven inquiry, the scientific pipeline will run dry.
In daily life, people may not feel the effects right away, or even in 10 years. But we will feel it. And when someone we love needs therapies that could have emerged but didn't or when other countries now
investing in science can launch new science-based industries or run their societies on vast resources of fusion energy or reap the benefits of quantum computing power or advanced medical breakthroughs, America will wish it sustained its leadership in scientific research here and now.
