Price shocks in essentials must be buffered before they ripple through the economy and rip apart our societies. Have governments learned their lesson or will they let the fossil fuel price shock unleash another round of windfall profits and inflation? Link: www.nytimes.com/2024/11/12/o...

The remarkable thing about Pedro Sánchez is that he has faced everything modern European politics has to throw at a government - the scars of the eurozone crisis, a polarised and fragmented politics, snobbery from other Europeans - and built the most successful economy and foreign policy in Europe.

I have produced quite a few paintings and drawings of Green Street in Cambridge over the years. Here's a watercolour and ink sketch showing the western end as it goes into Trinity Street. Not sure if I still have this one. #Cambridge #watercolour #streetscene
Watercolour drawing of Green Street, Cambridge with the figure of a young woman in a green dress striding along and a few lightly-sketched bicycles.

One and a half million people are killed by animals every year. Almost one million by other animals, and more than half a million from direct conflict among ourselves. Almost all of these deaths from other animals are caused by just two types: mosquitoes and snakes.

Deeply troubled by the festering political violence the republican party, trump & rw extremist have unleashed on the US. Their refusal to enact gun safety laws & their celebration of violence is what caused today’s terrible tragedy. They need to face accountability for Kirk’s sake.Thoughts & prayers.

We're not always going to feel strong. Strength fluctuates. We won't be strong every minute, & we don't need to be. What we do need is to be committed to having our own back, being on our own side, not abandoning ourselves-- no matter how strong we do or don't feel this minute.
