FA is basically the last actual art site in existence and a cornerstone of furry culture at this point. I've been a user on the site for over 15 years, it's where I met my best friends and my husband. I imagine a lot of us are in that boat. The least we can do is throw them a few bucks a month.

TikTok argued that the AI voice was "generic" and any similarities to Tsuda were a "coincidence." However, the court sided with Tsuda's team here. From the presiding judge: "The unauthorised use of a performer’s voice … can be considered an infringement on publicity rights."

This is a major win, regardless of the lawsuit's dismissal. We can only hope that the same protection afforded to these Japanese actors can be made the standard for all performers globally. Without any international law to protect us and zero regulation of genAI, this is still an uphill battle.
