The mailing list of the French Soc.of Eco.Evo. (SFE2) was hacked yesterday. August 5 is a bad timing (good for the hackers) for an attack! I would like to warmly congratulate the SFE2 staff who interrupted their holidays to fix this. People panicked and everyone patience was under severe pressure..

🌳 Tree mortality in 🇫🇷 France rose 1.5–4× (2015–2023). 500k+ trees analysed; warmer winters & springs are top drivers. Even wet springs increase mortality risk via 'structural overshoot'. Fabricated references seem increasingly common. Everyone can check the citations of their own work. I found a few citations for an actual paper written with my co-authors, BUT with an extra senior author from the same field and a DOI wrong by just one number, pointing to the same journal. Beware!
