the threat to agriculture is something we’ve been worried about in the food & enviro community for some time didn’t expect it to land this hard in 2026 yet here we are 😔 we need a plan for true resiliency & the social stress caused by scarcity & high prices—ASAP!

The major platforms—Facebook, YouTube, and X—are all refusing to show the trailer for the upcoming documentary that eviscerates the ridiculous pest Elon Musk. So I guess we have to do our part to make sure it is seen. www.youtube.com/watch?v=eY_8...

I took this free class at the library and it was good. I learned some stuff and got a handout with instructions for How To Disable AI, "a guide for people who would like a little less AI and a little more control of their tech environment."

Sorry for missing last week--had a long weekend in Moab and then post-labor day work craziness. This week's image is coming from Moab and the challenge is #Texture. Push it forward or pull it back. No destination is wrong--your call. #ECK #PostProcess #EastCoastKin tinyurl.com/mw97kpdy

Sep 14 - Sep 20 Texture

This week's Post Process Challenge is Texture. Destination: Moab. Everyone starts here — where you take it is up to you.

Push it forward or pull it back. Sharpen it into something you can almost feel, or smooth it into something that barely holds a surface at all. No destination in mind — just pick a direction and follow it.

Curious to see how far apart everyone lands in a scene like this.

Flare Standing over this felt like down into a solar flare mid-detonation. #EastCoastKin #Photography #Leica #PhotographersofBlueSky #PhotographersUnited #Urbangaze

A tight, upward-angled view into a fan of vertical cords — magenta and pink dominate, threaded through with streaks of blue, gold, and yellow — sweeping diagonally from the lower-left corner of the frame toward the upper-right. The cords converge in the upper distance, where the color pools into a warm yellow-gold glow. A pale wooden beam crosses the lower third of the frame horizontally, in sharp focus, with a teal-painted metal rail running just beneath it, also sharp. Below both, the colorful pattern of cords repeats as a mirrored reflection, doubling the composition across that horizontal line. A soft, bright patch of light sits in the lower right corner of the frame.

Shot at f/2, the image uses a thin plane of focus to turn a physical scene into a color-field abstraction — only the horizontal beam and rail hold crisp detail, anchoring an otherwise blurred, radiating sweep of color. The diagonal thrust gives the composition a more dynamic, directional energy than a centered, symmetrical framing would, while the reflection beneath the rail doubles the pattern and reinforces the sense of a self-contained color system rather than a documentary record of a specific object.

This week's Post Process Challenge is Painterly. Push the image toward another medium — impressionist, expressionist, watercolor, oil, graphic novel, whatever you're reaching for. No single right answer. The only real question: where does the photograph end and the painting begin?

Source image is a fall lake scene — conifers and gold aspens doubled in a still reflection. Grab the file, take it wherever it wants to go, tag it #PostProcess #Painterly.

Benefits of Being a U. S. State: 1) No universal healthcare. 2) Your kids get shot at in school. 3) You get no disaster relief if you didn’t vote for the malignant crazy person in the Oval Office. 4) Get diarrhea from your food. Think long and hard before saying “no” to such a utopia, Canada!
