i know this is what "i never thought the leopards would eat my face" is exactly describing. but i'd argue what something like the Milo incident shows is that their version is even shallower than that. they're playing GTA and everyone but them is an NPC. life's barely real to them.

This public and official announcement is one faction within the regime signalling to another faction that they are now in control, and that bad things can happen to them if they challenge the ruling faction.

the concern with the Arday story isn’t the fact of the media coverage, it’s the volume. it’s perfectly reasonable that there would be some coverage of the story, and basically indefensible that there was as much as there was.

1. I’d love these twats to define “processed food.” Almost all of our food is “processed” + has been since humans started cooking. 2. Studies showing physical differences between ADHD brains + neurotypical brains are abundant! + demonstrate the differences exist from v early childhood - at least!

This is laughable --- "reporting says", well yes, these reporters did a bang-up job anthropomorphizing the system they are talking about, and obfuscating the responsibility that OpenAI holds here. bsky.app/profile/mims... Some examples:

Just watched one of my astoundingly talented daughters perform 'Dead Mom' in a community production of Beetlejuice. She sang like she was really on Broadway. To get out there and do that after watching me- her not-yet-dead mom- go through cancer treatment for the past year? Very hardcore! I cried!

In Nolan’s Odyssey, the only (somewhat) decent nobleman was raised by a single mother. And you know what? He's right to say it. (I am only kind of joking. Or I am not joking at all.)

I have complicated feelings about the many-wayed man. Except for when he strings his bow and plucks it right before dispatching the suitors. In every translation that moment leaves me feeling one very uncomplicated feeling. Ahem. Can confirm that Nolan did right by that bit.

4. Homeric Greek is an artificial poetic, traditional language, developed over generations of poetic storytelling and fusing different dialects and eras - not a language that anyone ever spoke. It works beautifully for traditional spoken-word poetry, but it's quite unsuitable for a film script.

1. Creators, including screenwriters, can and should do their own thing, especially when adapting a myth. Euripides adapted the end of the Iliad for the Athenian tragic stage using a different meter and different lexicon from Homer's, for a different genre and a different time. That's fine!

ICE says he “weaponized his vehicle.” Same line that is already falling apart in the killing of S. Araujo. Same line that fell apart in murder of Renee Good. Same line ICE misused so often in Chicago that a Fed judge said it was “difficult, if not impossible, to believe almost” any such claim.

On today’s episode of VIBE CHECK, we interview Epstein survivor Jess Michaels. To be honest, this conversation changed my life. I hope it liberates many other people as well. open.spotify.com/episode/759n...
ON THE FREEZE TRAUMA RESPONSE
As a survivor of Jeffrey Epstein, we do not talk enough about the freeze trauma response. That is really normal, and the laws have not caught up with trauma-informed responses.
I tell the really uncomfortable truth:
I took off my own dress. If I said that in a court of law today, that would be viewed as consent.
