Before calling someone a “dirtbag,” the Senator should have had his facts straight. An apology is in order. Glad one of us knew the difference between the Atlanta Hawks and the Iowa Hawkeyes!

This is - as usual - excellent. But it stands out this fortnight as being particularly depressing. A government with no sense of urgency. As if, having ditched Starmer for Burnham, it’s done its part. Yet it hasn’t even started on Europe, ethno-nationalism, democracy or geopolitics.

We need to hear contrition for Brexit's having shattered the West, the glee which so many of his colleagues greeted our suffering, and the rampant Europhobia still present And we need to see him say he will *support* Europe as the best hope for a critical mass of democracies working together Ends

An early election would only make sense if Burnham were already rolling the pitch to drop the red lines and the taxation pledges from the last manifesto. Which he’s not.

So the favourite obsession of the far right, being weaponised by US billionaires to push us towards their technofascist dystopia, is repeatedly legitimised by a Labour government. Other concerns, including the longstanding concerns of the left, are vilified and delegitimised.

Amazing speech by Carney to the European Parliament - free movement, common market, ... Not hard to see how his stint as Chairman of the Bank of England through the worst of the Brexit years influenced him. Well done Brexit and Trump for achieving what I never thought would be possible.

We know with certainty that Brexit was a disaster, and now while Canada negotiates associate membership with the EU, Britain is stuck on the sidelines of its own continent. Hopefully this will be the moment our government stops dragging its feet and finally rethinks our relationship with Europe.2/2

I'm so bored with this. If Burnham, like Starmer, thinks Labour's 'red lines' are unmoveable for political reasons then, ok, I understand that. But to then keep pretending there is some 'ambitious' deal possible that will discernibly increase UK growth is just absurd. www.ft.com/content/4ec5...

1) There is no such deal that can give "percentage points growth" while keeping the UK Labour red lines: only SM and CU access can give that, and that requires Freedom of Movement, dynamic alignment and payments to EU cohesion funds 2) Wielding a concession on a Youth experience scheme as.. (2/x)
