This is a really well-done piece that explains the barriers for refugee healthcare. As to the cuts themselves, refugees in Canada on federal healthcare now have a 30% copay on many things, $4 copay for prescriptions, and therapy is capped at 10 appointments/year (which some may be over already!).
Starting May 1, however, it will require beneficiaries to directly pay for a portion of what the government calls supplemental health costs. Basic health services, like doctors’ visits and care provided in hospitals, will still be provided without charge. But refugees and asylum seekers will be required to shell out for 30 percent of health products and services, such as dental care, vision care, counselling, and medical equipment like wheelchairs, prosthetics, and diabetic supplies. There will be new limits to the amount of care the program covers, like the number of psychotherapy or counselling sessions and the maximum cost of dental restorations. And beneficiaries will also be required to pay $4 for each prescription medication. Depending on their needs, a patient’s co-payments in a given year could easily add up to hundreds of dollars.

Black text on a yellow background - This is Alice's friend Sandy Ho, posting. Per Alice's wishes, this message is being shared at the time of her passing.
Hi everyone, it looks like I ran out of time. I have so many dreams that I wanted to fulfill and plans to create new stories for you. There are a few in progress that might come to fruition in a few years if things work out. I did not ever imagine I would live to this age and end up a writer, editor, activist, and more. As a kid riddled with insecurity and internalized ableism, I could not see a path forward. It was thanks to friendships and some great teachers who believed in me that I was able to fight my way out of miserable situations into a place where I finally felt comfortable in my skin.
We need more stories about us and our culture.
You all, we all, deserve the everything and more in such a hostile, ableist environment. Our wisdom is incisive and unflinching. I'm honored to be your ancestor and believe disabled oracles like us will light the way to the future. Don't let the bastards grind you down. I love you all.

Fucking hell... Seriously, there's no going back from this. If it were not from Haaretz, nobody would believe it. Worse part? Nobody fucking cares. archive.ph/NVG4p#select...
A recently discharged Division 252 officer describes the arbitrary nature of this boundary: "For the division, the kill zone extends as far as a sniper can see." But the issue goes beyond geography. "We're killing civilians there who are then counted as terrorists," he says. "The IDF spokesperson's announcements about casualty numbers have turned this into a competition between units. If Division 99 kills 150 [people], the next unit aims for 200."

These accounts of indiscriminate killing and the routine classification of civilian casualties as terrorists emerged repeatedly in Haaretz's conversations with recent Gaza veterans.
