As previously stated, I'm fine down in the Cambridgeshire fens, looking after the olds, but... Any interesting music people (I know about DJ Trax) living around Ely/Cambs fens these days?!

I realised, on sorting out his stuff, that Simon Morris of the Ceramic Hobs had a stab at one of them for a while. There was bizarrely a shop associated with one of them in Colchester when I lived there early 2000s...I only went in once.

Snap on general feelings re the Dreadful Grate...and also on Terrapin Station, which I certainly didn't love but found bizarrely far more acceptable!

I discovered that the vast containers of CDs/DVDs at the tip don't go to charity/Music Magpie, as presumed, they are just being separated out for easier recycling. Don't throw out yr CDs & DVDs, there is always something worth salvaging, even it is just the boxes...DM me & let's sort something out!

Recently, the vets put a device for collecting dog urine in a bag of stuff for me, without mentioning it...I literally thought they were trolling me about their prices taking the piss!

From the local vets...I guarantee they would do more for attracting custom if they took the money they've shoved into advertising and lopped it off everyone's bills instead!

I'm OK back down in the fens, but I do miss the north...The other day, the missus ordered a lat-tay in a restaurant, and the young waiter looked absolutely terrified, like a rabbit in the headlights, checking the menu...until she deigned to order a "laa-tay" instead.

Charity shop regulars I always presumed would be crap but turn out to actually be alright: Mantovani ("Charmaine", oh god!), Victor Silvester, Charlie Kunz, and now...Vic Damone!

Yeah, that seems to line up with best of/Peel picks/Simon picks evidence (actually, that seems like near enough it, bar live LPs!)...Not sure they're gonna quite counter Love 1st 4 thus far, but looking forward to hearing more...

Yeeeahhh! I am on a massive lifetime film catch-up the last few years, kinda even above music almost, & I finally watched Woodstock, on which they were the standout for me. Bloody awful, Badfinger/Bhundu Boys/Ceramic Hobs band history 😬

I think they kick ass! A mile above Lynyrd etc etc. Maybe on a plain with Canned Heat, who I've also become more into recently.

...If I've not mentioned it before, Simon, for all the weird stuff in his collection, was a kinda classic rock freak...He delighted in when the supermarkets were stacked with cheap reissues & he could excuse his shopping by picking up an Art Garfunkel box set or whatever along the way!

Getting interested in Creedence (sorry, CCR!) recently, so pleased to turn up a couple of reish CDs in the ongoing Simon Morris Collection project. Am I just getting old or am I a hipster? 🤔 I only really knew Bad Moon Rising til recently, then found a best of in a book swap...Shit hot band!

...This comes up cos of a sythpop triple CD I got 4 free & was listening 2 in the car 2day. Knew most but not all, & some still sounds absolutely wonderful (stand up, Art of Noise), but frustrating that the compilers think some1 who wants 2 listen 2 Being Boiled will also want 2 listen 2 Go West etc

That took me a minute but, yes, very good!

Aaahhh yes, I must have subconsciously picked up on that!! Much as people wank on about Japan (I'm not a huge fan, but I like some of his other stuff), shows you how rarely he himself gets mentioned, that no one has ever said his name in my presence/on the radio while I've been listening!!

...David Sylvain is WAY better, he should change it to that...
