This gets said constantly, but it worth reiterating: Games Workshop being bigger than fishing is important to shout about because you wouldn't know it from government talking points, which are rarely about anything creative or artistic. Growth won't involve fish or steel, it will involve goblins.

Certainly courageous. Can't think of any British figure that would have called a general election because their housing schemes were thwarted.

CNN making this sound more mysterious than it is. It was Yersinia pestis, the plague, the researcher died because she inhaled it into her lungs and developed pneumonic plague, there is no danger but to those directly exposed in the lab. Fear-mongering in the time of global terror is a sick choice.

Labour was polling a little over 30% when these articles were written. It is genuinely strange that the Conservative Party is not being subjected to the same obituaries by op-ed given its frequent sub-20% polling.

OK now I'm back at work I want to talk about GB Grid. I think the govt did the best it could at communicating this announcement but it's quite technical and you need to understand the energy system to fully get it, so it's almost impossible to sum up in a soundbite. Let me explain as far as I can:

Praise for Burnham's speech is OK; it was better than Healey's vacuous drivel. But it misses a key point about politics - that we over-rate words & under-rate power, interests, administration etc.

🎓 Learning at work should be open to everyone. The government has announced £15 million a year to restore the Union Learning Fund, helping working people gain new skills, progress in their careers and prepare for changes in the workplace. 👇
UNION LEARNING FUND RESTORED” over a red-tinted photo of workers in an industrial setting. Text explains that the Union Learning Fund is being restored to help working people gain new skills and progress in their careers. It says the previous fund generated 180,000 learning opportunities each year, that people do not need to be union members to benefit, and that support will range from English, maths and digital skills to training for new and growing industries. It also highlights new investment to expand local apprenticeship support in Greater Manchester. Rebecca Long Bailey MP branding appears at the bottom with the words “Putting Salford first.
