Baffling to see The Times claim that Burnham “did not mention energy” in his conference speech. Energy was referenced no fewer than 10 times, alongside a major announcement of £4bn for Great British Grid to cut connection delays and bring bills down. Britain's energy challenge was front & centre.

Excited to be chairing this brilliant LCEF event at Labour Conference next week! We’ll be talking about how, done well, the green transition has the potential to revitalise communities and build local prosperity - and how we can make that happen.

A sobering reminder from the National Audit Office today that decades of underinvestment in our national grid has left Britain without the critical infrastructure we need. We are taking decisive action to speed up new infrastructure, and get more homegrown power onto the grid.

Recent heatwaves have been an inescapable reminder that the effects of climate change are with us in the here and now. So as well as tackling the causes of climate change, we need to better prepare Britain for extreme heat. That’s why fast support for air to air heat pumps matters.

LCEF is proud to have supported this - with extreme heat becoming a regular occurrence in UK summers, it’s vital that we help keep people safe, cool and comfortable in their homes, as well as decarbonising to combat climate change. Air to air heat pumps will be an important part of the solution.

I do wonder if Reform have actually thought about how they would enforce this in the six counties.
"LOST IN TRANSLATION: Reform UK has proposed an amendment to the government’s Election Bill that would send candidates who use Irish, Gaelic or Cornish on election leaflets to jail. Reform MPs co-signed New Clause 107 to the Representation of the People Bill that would require all election publications to be “in the English language or the Welsh language” only. Five of six Cornish MPs have signed a joint statement of condemnation. The Byline Times has more."
