Trans people get called extremists for saying “hey don’t watch a wizard tv show.” Meanwhile people out here literally calling for legislative bans on our existence are propped up as feminist icons. Really just shows how those who make people uncomfortable or disrupt consumption are vilified.

also can we really call it "automation" if you have a task that is being done by mailing the data over to a remote server and running a stochastic process on someone else's GPUs, paying for it as a metered service, to invent how to do it from first principles every time

they *are* statistical, but one of the big changes recently is that their statistical output has been allowed to execute commands and *those* commands can be actual programs. I totally get it being confusing and that confusion is absolutely being taken advantage of.

If your response to the data center backlash is "oh no, those poor hyperscalers! People are using inexact data in their arguments against OpenAI and Grok. Everyone should just let them proceed with their buildouts and focus instead on PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY," then you're either a grifter or a mark.

It's not "too woke" to say that straight men who rape women should be reviled for being rapists, not tarred as secretly queer. To imply they're gay, or that they wear dresses, to distance them from manhood, is to insist that their violence is "deviant" rather than utterly banal and normative.

It is very funny how starkly and explicitly One Nation voters care most about race and care least of all voters about cost of living and housing, yet still get given the "it's just economic anxiety" treatment by most media www.theguardian.com/news/2026/ju...
Bar chart comparing party voter priorities from a May poll — cost of living dominates most groups, but One Nation voters stand out by prioritizing immigration (28% listed it as their most salient issue) while other parties show higher shares for cost, healthcare, or housing.

The most racist, supremacist garbage is being vomited across Australian media right now. Criticising Israel is an unacceptable threat to Jews so speech must be restricted but we have to ensure the restrictions don’t stop us from saying Muslims are terrorists or that brown people shouldn’t migrate.
Similarly, the potential pitfalls of Albanese's proposal to develop a "narrow" federal offence for "serious" racial vilification depend on how these provisions are cast and what kind of speech can be caught in the net.
There must be no possibility of the threshold for prohibited speech stifling legitimate discussion of sensitive but important subjects that touch on matters of race, such as immigration policy or the connection between radical Islam and terrorism. These are the kind of technical questions that the royal commission into antisemitism proposed by former treasurer Josh Frydenberg could usefully explore.
