Just a reminder that the few remaining experts at the CDC's food-borne illness division identified Taylor Farms as the source of the cyclospora outbreak very early on, but because the owner of Taylor Farms is a big Trump donor, he was able to prevent a recall for weeks as thousands fell ill.

Why do you suppose he put the word "checks" in quotation marks? And "nearly $100"? Like $99.99? Sounds like an infomercial that ... sells you things you probably shouldn't be buying.
Trump: "I am pleased to announce that my Administration will, immediately, begin sending 'Checks' of nearly $100 to over 20 MILLION wonderful Seniors to help pay for their Medicare Part B premiums, which we have already reduced by significant amounts. This money will come from the Medicare Improvement Fund, a pointless 'Slush Fund' that has only been used by Dumocrats in Congress to pay for the Waste, Fraud, and Abuse for their Special Interest friends, and drive up Healthcare costs. We are finally using this Fund, along with my Most Favored Nations Deals, to substantially LOWER costs for our Seniors. I pledged to protect and preserve Medicare and Social Security, which were on the verge of RUIN by Joe Biden, who foolishly and maliciously let tens of millions of Illegal Aliens into our Country, and we are doing just that for America’s Seniors. This is separate from the equally substantial Refund 'Checks' we are sending to One Million Americans who were overcharged for their Unaffordable Care Act plans by Joe Biden.

Because I delivered on this very important issue for the American People, they can also rest assured the highly popular $5,000 Trump Dividend will be distributed to every U.S. Citizen if, and when, the Republicans win the Midterm Elections! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP"

Imagining people who do evil things to be devoid of empathy is a way of comforting oneself, because we all know that we feel empathy and therefore are not the kind of person who could do *that.* It’s much scarier to know that a conglomeration of circumstances can turn basically anybody bad.

Okay so I don’t think this is true - historically speaking, mass violence consistently comes from an attempted rejection (rather than a *lack*) of empathetic impulses, which exist whether we want them to or not, and desire to distance oneself from an externalized target.

Pete is lost in terms of modern war. I use the example of this outgunned Ukrainian army officer who successfully terrorized a Russian unit for weeks because she "did the math." At the time, someone commented, "yeah, in combat, 'I did the math' beats 'I can do 100 pushups' every time."
Ukrainian female soldier: Okay, I said the idea is this: There is enough time to empty one full can of 32 grenades and be gone by the time the return mortar fire reaches us. I did the math.

a key reason why rape culture persists is because men do not fear reprisals from *other men*. they do not expect other men to care if they raped someone. they do not expect other men to treat them poorly. they believe that most men will doubt a victim's story and demand evidence.

Screenshot of an America.gov page. A user asks, "Can the attorney general exempt the president from IRS audits?" The answer: Federal tax law does not give the Attorney General a general power to exempt the President from IRS audits. Under 26 U.S.C. § 7217, it is unlawful for listed "applicable persons" (including the President, Vice President, and certain executive-office employees) to request, directly or indirectly, that the IRS start or end an audit of a particular taxpayer. Willful violations can carry a fine and prison. IRS employees who receive such a request must report it.

america.gov query

is it a good idea to divide the MMR into 3 different shots?

CDC does not recommend splitting MMR into three separate measles, mumps, and rubella shots in the United States. Those single-antigen vaccines are not available here.

What CDC says
Protection against measles, mumps, and rubella is given as the combination MMR vaccine (or MMRV for some children, which also covers varicella).
CDC states single-antigen measles, mumps, and rubella vaccines are not available.
Children are routinely recommended 2 doses of MMR: first at 12–15 months, second at 4–6 years. Teens and adults should stay up to date if they are not already immune.
