Scooby Doo always fascinated me. When the criminals were unmasked and said "I would've gotten away with it if it wasn't for you meddling kids", no one ever mentioned the 6 foot tall talking dog. Was Shaggy the only person who could hear Scooby talking?

They are all very deliberately ignoring the express wishes of Henry Nowak's family; the judge's sentencing report & the obvious, albeit brief, consequences of a crime being reported exclusively by a lying associate of the perpetrator. It may feel futile but this has to be repeated again & again.

Here’s an idea - politicians have to apply for a licence to practice politics, renewed every 5 years. If you are found to have been a key architect of a disastrous decision which has made the country measurably poorer, that’s one of the criteria through which the licence can be revoked.

Ray French, former BBC rugby league commentator, dies aged 85
* Played internationally in union and league * Led BBC coverage for 38 years Ray French, the former rugby league commentator, has died at the age of 85. He had been living with dementia. He played internationally in union, winning four caps in the second row for England in 1961, before moving to league and joining his home town club, St Helens, that year and helped them win the Challenge Cup in 1966. He appeared four times for Great Britain, in 1968. Continue reading...

Nice to see a blue plaque and plinth on Wistaston Road in Crewe to commemorate the women’s rights campaigner, Ada Nield Chew. In the 1890's she wrote letters to the Crewe Chronicle exposing the conditions the women worked in. The needle and bobbin represent the clothing factory she worked in.

Healthy but tired cynicism being expressed in this letter (to the i Paper). We’re all so bloody sick of the failure… of being lied to like this… of politics for simpletons who think the stuff they don’t like can be swept away with a magic wand and who have no clue how a country works.. or doesn’t.
I read on your front page that Nigel Farage "claims he could save £350bn over five years by scrapping net zero and slashing spending" (The i
Paper, 28 May).
To make this assertion more credible, maybe he should have it written on the side of a bus.
