"I feel like I'm not allowed to exist or around people unless I'm being a productive member of society. On a good brain day the consequence can be mild embarrassment. I can live with that.

On a bad day the penalty can be severe. So much so that even socializing online is a risk. God will punish me first; and then everyone I care about and know; and then everyone. If I don't get the lesson then more people will be hurt more severely until I stop messing up. These delusions only hold for part of the time, but when they take hold they occupy my mind as absolute truths.

I'm told that there's a way to get fixed by doing the work. With the work looking a lot like being a productive member of society. Yes, cool, I want that. I keep pushing for that. And then when I meltdown or when I break I try to keep it hidden.

Because all of me was taught not to bother others with emotions, to keep the emotions hidden away so as not to be a bother. My brain knows that the mask will keep cracking, but I also can only get help if I keep masking up."

Time for another #TerribleComicTuesday. Like always, I made the comic the day of. This time I intentionally did the date weird. Normally, I just don't correct the typos!

I admit to struggling with wanting to under- and over-share personal information.

I share a story about buying a trophy as a gag gift for someone overseas, then not sending it because the cost would be prohibitive. The cup portion of the trophy would be turned upside down and filled with tiny plastic animals as an inside joke.

I include a photo of the trophy (in ASCII form) and a traced drawing of a miniature horse.

It's time for another #Terriblecomictuesday where I do something a total stranger and a near-total stranger told me to do and which I maybe secretly wanted to do anyways? Yeah, I have wanted to make comics but haven't because I've had essential tremors since early childhood. Yay for shaky hands!

A poorly drawn cop car is heading to a cross walk. Paul confesses he didn't sleep and forgot about the need to make the comic, that he respect loves a lot of people, but that he doesn't know the word for a healthy loving respect. He suspects it's weaker than the classical Platonic loves. And he admits to not being willing or able to spend 5k to meet Weird Al.

That’s a really important point! One of the big reasons that technology sucks these days is that the public is no longer the real customer. Instead, the true business model is about attracting investors or seeking the whole business to a vastly wealthier competitor.

I'll start to beat myself up as if I'm a NEET failson, then I'll remember I've struggled with mental health since childhood with multiple psych hospitalizations and treatments from drugs to tcms to ect to in/outpatient therapy. And then I'll feel bad in a different way. 2026 off to a rough start.
