Two panel comic of a speaker addressing an audience. The top panel has the speaker saying “Who wants to allow participants to be able to fully describe their ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender identity” with all audience members raising their hands. The bottom panel has the speaker saying “Who wants to clean this data so we can use it in our analyses”. The audience lowers their hands and heads, and a fly buzzing over their head to indicate silence.

NEW on “Paper Trail”: Under Trump 2.0, the White House has often ignored Congress to carry out its agenda. Entire agencies, like USAID, have been gutted. ICE has grown explosively. Behind it all is one man: Russell Vought. 🎧 Listen to our latest episode:

A welcome change to see Dems go left on immigration, something Obama didn't do until pushed by DACA activists and Biden didn't either. We need to see a full-throated defense of immigration as a good thing, and not just on economic grounds. Talarico is doing that. Hope more Dems follow.

The first requirement of restorative justice is a perpetrator’s confession. He has to admit what he has done and to take accountability. The men in this case are smearing the victim and threatening her with lawsuits. They are not candidates for RJ. They would turn it into a new site of violence.

Cooking something up for a presentation maybe
Mental gymnastics meme. Top panel captioned “taste based discrimination” depicting a gymnast just standing there saying “I don’t like them”. Bottom panel depicts a complex routine and is labelled “statistical discrimination”, with the final step being a person jumping over a flaming car. At each routine is some sort of economic rationalizing going from “it’s not that hate *those* people” to “it’s just that *they* have worse test scores” to “*those* people also commit a lot of crimes” to “and other minority groups are successful” ending with “it’s rational”

What were not talking about is that the Ivy League, by design, with its construction of “status” and “value” is designed to create men for whom there are no consequences & to dehumanize everyone else. This the Cornell 7. Thus the expulsion of anyone who dares protest genocide. This is privilege.

The main reason you haven’t heard about campus sexual violence in a few years is because Trump and SCOTUS have made it much, much harder for survivors to come forward. You might vaguely remember that Title IX was a big battleground in his first term. And that we lost.

It’s interesting to think about this fake award on the same day that nature published the story on fake academic societies. Billionaires creating new awards for ideological capture and to launder their reputations is also a scam, but its not treated as such and gets a ‘Newsvertisement‘ in the WSJ

Once again, I gotta say: you cannot treat anything you’re feeding into an AI as anonymous. There are enormous ethics implications for, e.g. referees who are clearly uploading others’ unpublished papers without consent, let alone health care professionals or law enforcement
