Last night this guy, this fuckin' guy, this Nick Lutsko, had the whole crowd chanting "Piss! Piss! Piss!" and sung some stuff about Alex Jones (the one who popped like a balloon, not the jolly Welsh one) and it was excellent. I have a lot to learn about Dan Bongino and Spirit Halloween, it seems.
It's Nick Lutsko! He's sat on a stool on stage, wielding an acoustic guitar, with no backing except for the lights.

"Vietnamese Degraded Fat Boy Cook-off" seemed like it would be misleadingly concise in my safety engineering notes, but search engines successfully pointed me to the 1967 USS Forrestal Fire.

The latest batch of AI generated bluesky accounts, that I block as soon as they follow me, appear to be very similar blends of - vaguely meditative/zen stuff - woah nature is pretty - deep dives into economic and political policy at the drop of a hat Who are they imitating??

I had a bad dream last night that I ended up with a daily telegraph subscription, and didn't know how to responsibly dispose of it without anyone knowing. We do produce some real mercenary shitbags of journalists in the UK.

We helped a friend run some cultural workshops at the Hyper Japan festival a while back, but couldn't participate while helping, so today we got to paint our own festival masks as thanks 😊 I may have ended up a bit luchador. Not complaining 😛
A Japanese festival mask resting on a piano. It's painted with a bright green nose and eyes amid dark brown fur, and sunset ears/cheeks because I was playing with stippled gradients.A row of festival masks resting on a piano. From left to right, they are a brown tanuki, myself with the bright green nose, a red and black mask with blue ears, a white mask with the David Bowie ziggy stardust design, and a black and gold anubis mask.

I love Big Walk, I really really do, I just can't play it for long in one sitting because I get so physically anxious with flashbacks to trying to keep track of cub scouts or summer camp kids when I was younger 🥲 Here's hoping I can overcome that a little as we play it more!

Our wonderful dog continues to be *far worse* than random chance when playing "guess which hand the cocktail sausage is in". We're not sure what signals she's picking up from us but it took her more than a dozen guesses to get two sausages. (out of two hands in total, to be clear)

The 13th annual international Gender Census 2026 is now open until at least 13th August 2026! survey.gendercensus.com It's for anyone whose gender (or lack thereof) isn't described by the M/F binary. It's short and easy, and results are useful in academia, business and self-advocacy. #LGBTQ

I've played ~30 minutes of ~30 different indie game demos this past fortnight. Please, y'all, six minutes of one-sentence-at-a-time text is not an "engaging intro cutscene". Consider giving me all the text at once, or forgoing it entirely? 🥲 (six minutes of npc idle animation is just as tiring.)

I am once again a late-night hammock wolf In this heatwave it's really nice to lay outside once it cools off a bit, under the few stars you can see from London, listening to the wind through the trees, the occasional police sirens, the insistence of our dog that I'm supposed to be inside now 😅
A long-exposure night shot looking up from my hammock. It's misleading for a few reasons - my phone's taken some liberties adding colour and light where things are mostly just a silhouette for me, and it's wide-angle, which makes it look like I'm next to a forest and not just a line of trees between me and the road!

A kid can enjoy the process of building a sandcastle, despite the incoming ocean. As an adult, that ocean is a more serious and important threat to be ignored at your peril. But in focusing on the ocean, I forget the sandcastle, the moments of little joy, of doing things just to do them.

FOMO is weird when I don't want to do the thing I'm missing out on, but I still want to remind myself - other people can have fun - I don't have to be having fun - it's ok to just sorta exist - quiet existence is actually quite hard and worth practicing brought to you by cold shower on hot day 👍🏽

all the sensory-seeking neurodivergents are moshing their hearts out at this Anamanaguchi gig and I love them dearly 💕
It's a small and dimly lit venue. The band Anamanaguchi are on stage in front of a silver tinsel backdrop putting in maximum effort. The crowd are mere metres from them and the room is hazy because of how hot a day it is, no smoke machine needed.
