Global ocean heat content (0-2000 m depth) now updated through June 2026... Do you see where this is heading? 🔥📈🌊 This graph showing anomalies is created by NOAA at www.ncei.noaa.gov/access/globa....
Line graph time series of global ocean heat content for the 0-2000 m layer for 3 month averages, yearly averages, and five years averages from the late 1950s to 2026. There is a long-term warming trend. The baseline is 1955-2006 for the zero reference to calculate the anomalies.

The October runs for dynamical El Niño models are now all out, and its a mixed bag. Some revise the event downward, some upward, but on average its still expected to peak at ~4C, albeit with the peak more likely to occur in December than November:

El Niño is fueling record-breaking sea surface temperatures (SST) off the coast of SoCal. Warmer-than-normal seas take up more volume and push tides higher. SST anomalies of +13F along the coast of Baja California will aid the intensification of Tropical Storm #Rachel as it approaches land.

We’ve had 30cm of sea level rise, and that water looks like 30cm or less, so without the trend the flooding would be minimal if at all.

The view of the Acatenango volcano from Fuego & the view of Fuego from Acatenango. Shot just minutes apart.🌋🔥 #Photography
Top: A view of Acatenango - a stratovolcano in Guatemala. Glow from the rising Sun illuminates the right side of the volcano, covered in lush vegetation, while the left is still mostly dark. The summit area of the volcano is covered in fresh show. This image was taken well above the cloud level, so the skies are perfectly blue with a white layer of clouds below. In the foreground, you see the curved slope of the Fuego volcano (shot via drone above Fuego).

Bottom: A sunrise view of Guatemala's Fuego volcano, shot from camp at 12,000 ft atop Acatenango. Fuego is seen erupting, with an ash cloud being emitted from the summit. Being well above the clouds, there are vibrant blue skies overhead and the cloud/haze layer is seen below.
