I made pretty much the same point in a GE2024 hustings. Don't advocate destruction of Israel *as it now exists*, ffs. That's genocidal.

The USA was created, in part, due to genocide. The UK was created, in part, due to genocide. We do not demand expulsions of all those born on those lands, though. But you do, for the one Jewish state.

Agree. Everyone should have the right to reside where they live. Even more so if they are living where they were born. Not sure how that helps you solve the Israel/Palestine situation, and not sure why you equated 'English' with a religious identity.

When your policy explains what happens to everyone else now living there (and their parents and grandparents, all born there) it might be coherent.

In my view, it is far more useful and urgent to get people to recognise the profound injustice caused by Zionism, than to argue whether the original ideology had any redeeming or liberatory aspects. Does arguing about 19th century Jewish politics helps us to stop genocide? I don't think so. 4/

Saying that Zionism is racism is like saying Communism is totalitarianism. Both are 19th century ideologies that generated wide sympathy and were seen as progressive, and when put to practice to create and reshape states, created enormous injustice. 1/

Is there a particular reason you use the more-awkward-to-type style of "anti-Semitism" rather than "antisemitism"?

If you actually want to expel Jewish people from within Israel, you're advocating a new genocide.

Excluding many millions of people from a 'self-determination' of where they were born and have always lived is not self-determination.

Apparently that antisemitic caricature not eating any part of a pig is supposed to be John Healey. The claim is that depicting the *Chancellor* in this way isn't at all antisemitic, because Healey isn't Jewish.

re "Zionism is racism" - it's a cornerstone of British equality law that discrimination need not be intentional for it to be discriminatory I'm not making *legal* claims about the Green Party motion - but a policy that would render the vast majority of Jews as personae non gratae is flatly racist

The thing that gets me about these lurid anti-Zionist statements, like the one the Greens just passed, is that it is *so fucking easy* to criticise the Israeli government without engaging in that type of language.

To Jewish members of the Green Party: Assurances, from the motion proposers, that they had no intention for Jewish members to feel targeted for their beliefs or associations have been clear. And if anyone else does try to use it in this way, I will be there for you with my solidarity and support.
Statement reads: As Greens, we will always uphold universal human rights.

We will never tolerate any form of discrimination or harassment.

We will continue to stand in opposition to genocide, ethnic cleansing, apartheid and the illegal occupation.

We will continue to call out the heinous crimes of the Netanyahu government.

And we will continue to work to ensure that the Green Party is an anti-racist party in every way.

We know there is no conflict between supporting the rights of Palestinians and the rights of Jewish people.

Re. the Zionism is Racism motion passing Any legal challenge might look at the motion potentially making Jewish members going to Zionist synogogues - i.e. the majority - feel they have to choose between their place of worship and the Greens

This was the breaking point for me. This is a perfectly reasonable and empathetic amendment that respects family ties and Jewish community institutions. It in no way undermined the purpose of the emotion as sold. To vote against it is absolutely unhinged and, in my opinion, openly antisemitic.

It's also pseudi-intellectualism. Because they know *slightly* more about the history of Israel and Palestine since 1948, they argue over the average person. Despite being totally ignorant of the long history of antisemitism (and of the antisemitic origin of "Zionism is racism").

People on the left who’s primary focus in politics is to root out ‘Zionists’ (which often seems to include anyone who disagrees with their methods even if they’re not Zionist) as well as being often antisemitic are just completely toxic and draining.

To leave or not to leave. I'll sleep on it, but I really don't see how I can stay in a party that's both voted against some of its own core principles, and (more importantly) has clearly been overtaken by a concerted effort driven by antisemitism.

My GP recommends swimming for my back. I want to go. There are 2 communal changing rooms. Labour say I should use the mens. I am a visibly female woman with a GRC. If I use the mens there's a serious risk of me being confronted and worse. So where do I go? I don't. I'm segregated from society.

Starmer gov’s original plans included 4 key changes: 1) judge-only trials 2) increasing magistrates’ sentencing powers 3) restricting right of appeal from magistrates’ courts 4) removing the right for defendants to choose a trial by jury in the crown court. Only 1) has definitely been scrapped.

4 YEARS "WIFE" OF A WOMAN
FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT
NEW YORK, Sunday.
"MARRIED" four years, a woman fainted to-day when Los Angeles police informed her that her young "husband" was a woman.
The "husband," who is twenty-three and known to friends and neighbours as Michael Higgins, was arrested concerning the dis-appearance of £3,000 from the garage where "he" was a clerk.
On being taken to prison "he" was un-masked as a masquerader.
"Even now I can't believe Michael is a woman," his wife, Betty, told me, "for he always seemed so manly.
"We eloped four years ago and our married life has been very happy."
Mrs. Della Harvey, Michael's mother-in-law, with whom the couple lived, is equally astonished.
