Skydance now owns Nick, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Comedy Central, and MTV, effectively ending US TV animation as we know it. Countless jobs will be lost, and fewer new shows will be created. An apocalyptic scenario for cartoons, yet it's maybe the 5th-worst thing about the Paramount-WB merger!

Also, the AGs had a concession that if Skydance didn't deliver 30+ movies per year (as I mentioned before, they still should have gotten a "quality control" guarantee to make movies at the level the studios are used to, not cheap films) to give up their 49% stake in Miramax. A concession would have been to divest one of the studios, either Warner Bros or Paramount. And by divesting the studio, I don't mean JUST the studio. This also includes the studio's film library before the merger. THAT would have been a concession more than a minority stake in Miramax.

I'm not a lawyer, but I do believe that the state AGs gave Skydance WAY too much leeway and sayso in the deal and got nothing of substance in return. And even if they have to split up in the future, do you people really think it's going to be the same companies that merged coming out intact?

50 years ago. This movie came out HALF A CENTURY ago, and Richard Williams was telling boys that you can love roughhousing & hate dresses, but you should still be nice to you sister and tell her you love her. That this remains so unique and noteworthy today is genuinely upsetting.

2 months later and I'm still thinking about this movie, specifically the relationship between Ann & Andy. I just can't get over what a good brother he is, how his genuine care and honesty with his sister is portrayed as an inherently positive thing. Boys need to see that nowadays more than ever.

I thought Pluto TV had the most to gain, not lose, from this merger, so I don't understand why it was a huge sticking point. I didn't see Pluto TV in any danger at all, so maybe I'm missing something. Paramount+ or HBO Max should've been the sticking points in my opinion.
