There's also things like elephants not always growing tusks, or the variation and late development of avian crests and several ungulate horns. We also have a prescience for this in marginocephalians: Styracosaurus only starts to develop its iconic mature features past 80% adult size.

Today's four random pieces of palaeoart: Bernie Wrightson's Hadrosaurus, Jan Sovák's Vulcanodon, Ashley Patch's Pteranodon, and José Olivier's Dimetrodon!
A pair of muscular, fat-tailed green hadrosaurs chew on water reeds along a muddy shoreline. In the distance, a group of crested hadrosaurs wade in a lake.A pair of murky green Vulcanodon stand astride each other, necks crossing, as they pass through a dense fog bank.A male Pteranodon soars before a billowing cloud, wings stretched wide. It has a complex pattern of whites, greys, and browns that contrast with the pink-tinted clouds and clear blues of the sky.A squat, lizard-like Dimetrodon with a long, coiling tail basks atop a barren, rocky cliff.

Today's four random pieces of palaeoart: @joannakobierska.bsky.social's Protoceratops, Just 9's Spectrovenator, Charles Knight's Dinornis, and Marco Pineda's Tyrannosaurus!
A lightly patterned, sandy beige Protoceratops with a crest of tall quills on the tail stands amid small shrubs. It is partially obscured by the tail of another individual in front of it, and a third can be seen passing by behind.A square-jawed, slender Spectrovenator stalks a misty swamp forest. The scene is entirely grey, suggesting dense fog.A group of slender-necked, robustly bodied moa wander about beside a shallow stream in an almost storybook-like tropical landscape. Two ochre-coloured Tyrannosaurus square off in a dusty clearing, surrounded by light fog.

In life, Ben Bartlett’s music for the Walking With.. shows wove a tapestry of a lost world as we believed it could be. He ascribed to his music the epic majesty of John Williams, the emotionality of James Horner, & the daring verve of Jerry Goldsmith. Farewell, Maestro.
