I ditched it too, and have not looked back. People keep telling me to come back to fb, but it's the same company, so I can't abide. And, I made it clear on both platforms that I was leaving, as well as where to find me and contact info. >crickets< 😆

Here's a little something from the archives for #MountainMonday! A view of Mount McLoughlin in Southern Oregon, over the small city of Eagle Point. #Oregon #Scape #ECK #BlueSkyArtShow #Landscape #SouthernOregon
A photo of a tall cone shaped mountain, it's top and upper flanks draped in snow that disappears into the high tree line lower on the slopes. The lower slopes where the forests dominate appear blue due to the distance.
The sky above is a featureless pale blue of high hazy clouds.
Lower down, and in front of the high mountain is a long gently sloped mountain that runs across the whole photo side to side. It too appears more blue than green from it's forest cover due to distance.
Down further below the long mountain is a layer of pale white haze hanging over the landscape with some small hills faintly visible through it.
In the far foreground toward the bottom of the image are sets of low rolling hills covered in trees that are a dark green of conifers. The farther of the two has a large white done built on it that is a municipal water tank for the small city below.
The nearest of the two hills has visible individual trees that give way lower on the hillside to open green grassy slopes that continue toward the bottom of the photo, criss crossed by more isolated groups of trees and a few structures.
A hazy column of smoke rises from behind one group of trees, from a rural burn of wood and brush debris commonly seen in Spring and Fall before the dry season and wet Winter.

View of Saturn from last night 🔭🪐 #Astrophotography #Astronomy
Telescopic view of Saturn. Saturn centred, surrounded by featureless darkness. Saturn appearing as a large brown-ish disk, subtle banding is apparent on the planet, notably a dark band just below the equator. The rings can be made out crossing the disk, and with the Cassini Division on the left and right edges.

Really curious about the darker band in the foreground rock. Too bad it doesn't continue on the rock that got tipped over (at least not on the exposed side visible). Also, the rover has an arm, it doesn't need to try moving things with it's wheels unless that's called for.

😆 I wanted to boost my vitamin C and vitamin cheese that morning! My buddy Tracker Jack dubbed the slice a 'survival pizza' when he saw this pic.

Oregon Randy @oregonrandy.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
I got the pizza at a nearby strategically placed eatery at Diamond Lake, and packed the last slice with me as a snack when I took a break from hiking to a high mountain pass that morning. I spotted the serendipity before demolishing the slice.

Didja know? Mt Thielsen is shaped like a pizza slice? Or is it the other way round? #Pizza #Mountain #Scape #Hiking #Oregon #SouthernOregon
A photo of my right arm holding up a pizza slice, pointed end up. I'm holding the pizza slice from behind so my palm is facing the camera, and fingers behind the pizza. A grey sleeve of my jacket is visible toward the the lower right corner.
In the background is a mountain landscape with a tall pointy mountain peak at center top that is almost the perfect shape of the pizza slice!
The mountain top is very rugged and is all exposure rock and cliffs in light grey where the early morning Sun shines on it from the far left, leaving much of the mountain top in darker shaded grey. Below the peak is a steep slope of sunlit grey tumbled down "scree" slope of fallen material of largely homogenous rock.
Below the spot of the mountain is a small section of evergreen forest to the near foreground at the bottom of the photo. At the very bottom of the photo running to the immediate foreground is a sunlit section of bare ground in light tan, until a tall evergreen at far left that rises all the way to the top of the photo shades the ground nearby.
Above my arm at top right there are several evergreen limbs with sunshine on them.
Above the mountaintop, the sky is a rich cloudless blue.
There is also a small arc of lens flare across the left side evergreen tree where the Sunlight has hit the camera lens.

Not quite! I went on a vigorous group hike with a local backpacking group. We went up a steeper approach to this small set of peaks. I'd been up there four times earlier this year to start getting in shape in Winter and Spring. It's a wonderful lower altitude alpine area, even has Pika!

Today was full of views! #Hiking #MountHood #MtStHelens #MtRainier #MtAdams A classic set of #PNW views from Silver Star Mountain in Washington State. #Stunday #Nature #Mountains #Snow Mount Jefferson was briefly visible along the horizon to the South, but it was being shy. 🫣
A photo of receding mountain ridges with the nearest at bottom, with individual trees visible along it's top and side ridges that descend out of frame to the bottom. The trees and dense first cover appear very dark green against lighter colored brush covering areas between the trees, and some bare rocky areas in light gray along ridgelines.
The next ridge upward in the photo crosses the whole photo from side to side. On the whole it appears bluer from distance, and the trees look like a solid covering of forest in blue green with hints of shaded contours descending the lower slopes.
Above that is a hazy blue distant landscape that rises steadily to a horizontal bank of puffy white clouds.
Above the clouds is a jagged come shaped pointed mountaintop with it's high slopes covered in thin new snow. Darker shaded areas of snow free blue rocky exposures radiate down it's slopes from the summit.
The sky around and above the mountain is a pale blue with just a few wispy puffy clouds.A photo of a rocky pointed peak in the middle looked down on from a higher vantage in the foreground at bottom.
Above the peak, the top half of the image shows the blue sky with a towering grey hazy cloud rising all the way to the top of the photo, and another shorter, but more white rounded cloud at it's base to the left. To the right a grey string of small distant clouds hug the blue horizon with the haze of high white clouds far away.
The rocky pointed peak has one side fully lit by the Sun in light grey of rocky outcrops, separated by a sharp steep ridgeline with everything the other side of the ridge in solid dark shade. It resembles a very rough pyramid. The peaks base is surrounded by tall dense green conifer forest tree tops that run forward on the landscape until the foreground of nearby colorful yellow/green Fall grasses, short tough ground cover in pale rusty hues, a scattering of large grey angular boulders, and the same color rocky open patches amount the plants, and finally two small rich green well formed tough conifer trees.A expansive view overlooking rolling and rugged mountains covered in green conifer forests almost to the horizon across the upper third of the photo.
At bottom left there is a view of a closer very steep rocky set of descending grey cliffs with isolated patches of small trees clinging to a few places that aren't drop offs.
Along the horizon are a few sparse hazy grey low clouds that give way to two snow covered high mountain peaks. The peak on the left is a fairly rounded jump with some dark ridges visible before the cloud obscure the mountains lower flanks. That is a view of the South flanks of Mt St Helens in Washington State.
On the far right is a little less distinct view of a much farther snowy mountain top. That is 14,000 foot Mount Rainier, almost 100 miles away to the North.
Above the cloudy horizon and mountains the sky is a very pale blue that becomes a little darker in a gentle gradient to the top of the photo.A photo of more forested mountain views.
A foreground mountain has a rounded shape with it's right flank having a dense line of green conifer forest almost to it's small grey peak. The forest cover is interrupted by pale yellow/green grassy and small shrub covered areas that descend down the right and left flanks from the peak, as well as a few exposures of rocky dark grey cliffs dropping off lower on the left bottom flank.
Beyond the foreground mountain are rows of mountain ridges and ranges covered in more green conifer forest with creased ridge and gullies descending into unseen valley bottoms below.
In the distance the green mountainsides are blue from the great distance so the way up to the intermittently visible horizon with the sky, sometimes obscured by a few grey fluffy clouds.
A few irregular grey patches of clouds are scattered above the horizon in the pale blue sky.
To the right side of the horizon looms a large snow covered peak above most of the clouds and all the other mountains. Some texture is visible of it's rugged ridges and a few darker areas of bare stone exposure.
That mountain is 12,000 foot Mt Adams in Washington State.

#ForestFriday? Why, I can't think of having been outdoors anywhere recently...🤔 The upper part of the Umpqua River's watershed, and of course the high forest around Mount Thielsen, #Oregon. #Hiking #Nature #Trees #Pine #Forest #Lake #Umpqua #Mist #ECK #Scape #Landscape #📷
A photo of a rough brown footpath with stones visible scattered around. The path looks as though it may have been a rough jeep track a long time ago.
At the bottom of the image on the left and right of the path are small green ground cover shrubs crowding the forest floor, with some small native rhododendron, not in bloom, standing taller on the left.
Bordering the path as it rises through the upper part of the image are tall pines that create a canopy of green boughs up high. Lower on the tree trunks and on most lower branches are drapings of pale bright green lichen, lighter than the pine needles. The tree trunks are shades of grey and dark brown barks.
The path curves away to the left and out of sight through the tall trees.
The sky overhead through the tree tops is an overcast hazy grey.A photo of a small lake whose surface is sprinkled with countless little ripple circles from raindrops. It's surface reflects upside down, the dark shapes of tall trees across the water on a large hump of land above the water. The shore line looks stony with an even band of green and pale yellow topped early Fall grasses. Above the shoreline is a steep bare slope with a few small trees on it's left, and two larger ones to the right. Further up to where the rounded top should be there are enough tall skinny trees to block the landscape. All the trees have many green pine needle covered branches. The smaller trees being denser and more green than the tallest ones.
On the pond in the foreground there are some yellow/green patches of algae floating here and there, but not enough to block the reflection of the trees and the sky.
The sky is a featureless dim grey befitting the rain.A photo of a path between tall pine trees with many green needle covered branches, and reaching into a bright pale blue sky. The tree trunks are all nearly silhouetted by being shaded from a rising bright Sun that can be seen as a brilliant yellow ball at the very upper left corner shining through some dew covered tree branches. Nearly all the tree branches are backlit green by the rising Sun strongly so that they are in strong contrast to the shaded dark tree trunks.
Ahead in the gap between the trees where a path passes, a bright cloud of rising mist shines in the early daylight.A bright daylight photo of a row of tall slender pine trees grow in a descending row down a steep tan incline that is exposed in the Sun with no plants growing on it.
The incline the trees grow from starts at middle left, and descends to the lower right corner. The trees almost appear to be in lock step with each other in a somewhat orderly row, and nearly all of them are bent at their bases in a "J" shape to allow them to grow straight up from the steep slope. The tree trunks are strongly contrasted by more of the tan barren incline in Sun visible through them.
All their lower trunks are bare of most limbs for about three feet up, indicating the depth of Winter snows. The rest of the rising branches are dense with green pine needles that catch the Sun on their right sides, while the branches on the left are shaded.
Directly under the row of trees is their shadow following their line up the hill.
The sky seen through the trees and solidly above them is a rich blue.
A lone jet contrail cloud by chance almost has the same angle as the tan steep slope below, and cuts behind some of the taller trees in the row.
