Proof of life. 😆 I've been busy, but still got in two excellent hikes over the weekend, for about 20 miles all together. This wood statue was carved in 1988 near Cultus Lake trailhead in Washington. I thought it looked like an elderly Charlie Brown.
A selfie of myself on the left, facing the camera with a pink ball cap on, my big grey beard, smiling. And wearing an off white jacket with it's shoulder and lapel area in dark blue. My left hand is held up palm forward in a greeting gesture. Only my upper torso is visible.
To my right is a large carved wooden statue facing forward, with a hat, a large oval head with the suggestion of an ear on the left side, a broad slash of a smile, a triangular nose, and eyes that appear half lidded to go with the smile. Like myself, only the upper torso is visible, but it's right hand is also raised in greeting. The wood is greyed with age, but still seems to convey a genial attitude to visitors.
Behind us in the background is dense green forest pines and underbrush.

Good morning! Welcome to #ForestFriday friends! #Hiking #Oregon #Forest #Nature #Raven
A photo of a dense forest of green trees, mainly viewing their continuous pointed conifer tops. A single slim top of a snag rises to the center of the image from the bottom with a few light green mosses hanging from it and one thin limb pointing right near the bottom. A lone black raven perched at the tip in profile facing right. It's wings are relaxed at it's sides.

I missed Saturn at Opposition (When Earth and Saturn were nearest) on the 4th, but I have imaged it before. When we could see it from 'below' the ring plane. I'll give it another go sometime this year, if the weather and timing cooperate! #Astrophotography #Planet #Saturn
The planet Saturn and it's rings, looking from below the ring plane. Think of it as looking from below Saturn's equator. This perspective gives a view through the rings from below so that there are dark gaps on either side between the gas giant and it's rings.
The "sky" all around is black.
The giant planet is a dusky yellow tan with a lighter band around it's middle.
Just barely visible is a gap in the rings, the Cassini Division, at either end of the rings where they are broadest.

Bonus content! The sky didn't cloud over this morning so I got my phone out to get an ok pic of the thin crescent Moon, and Jupiter above it!

Much higher up near the upper right corner is is a bright point of light, that is the planet Jupiter!

Here's a little something from the archives for #MountainMonday! A view of Mount McLoughlin in Southern Oregon, over the small city of Eagle Point. #Oregon #Scape #ECK #BlueSkyArtShow #Landscape #SouthernOregon
A photo of a tall cone shaped mountain, it's top and upper flanks draped in snow that disappears into the high tree line lower on the slopes. The lower slopes where the forests dominate appear blue due to the distance.
The sky above is a featureless pale blue of high hazy clouds.
Lower down, and in front of the high mountain is a long gently sloped mountain that runs across the whole photo side to side. It too appears more blue than green from it's forest cover due to distance.
Down further below the long mountain is a layer of pale white haze hanging over the landscape with some small hills faintly visible through it.
In the far foreground toward the bottom of the image are sets of low rolling hills covered in trees that are a dark green of conifers. The farther of the two has a large white done built on it that is a municipal water tank for the small city below.
The nearest of the two hills has visible individual trees that give way lower on the hillside to open green grassy slopes that continue toward the bottom of the photo, criss crossed by more isolated groups of trees and a few structures.
A hazy column of smoke rises from behind one group of trees, from a rural burn of wood and brush debris commonly seen in Spring and Fall before the dry season and wet Winter.

Didja know? Mt Thielsen is shaped like a pizza slice? Or is it the other way round? #Pizza #Mountain #Scape #Hiking #Oregon #SouthernOregon
A photo of my right arm holding up a pizza slice, pointed end up. I'm holding the pizza slice from behind so my palm is facing the camera, and fingers behind the pizza. A grey sleeve of my jacket is visible toward the the lower right corner.
In the background is a mountain landscape with a tall pointy mountain peak at center top that is almost the perfect shape of the pizza slice!
The mountain top is very rugged and is all exposure rock and cliffs in light grey where the early morning Sun shines on it from the far left, leaving much of the mountain top in darker shaded grey. Below the peak is a steep slope of sunlit grey tumbled down "scree" slope of fallen material of largely homogenous rock.
Below the spot of the mountain is a small section of evergreen forest to the near foreground at the bottom of the photo. At the very bottom of the photo running to the immediate foreground is a sunlit section of bare ground in light tan, until a tall evergreen at far left that rises all the way to the top of the photo shades the ground nearby.
Above my arm at top right there are several evergreen limbs with sunshine on them.
Above the mountaintop, the sky is a rich cloudless blue.
There is also a small arc of lens flare across the left side evergreen tree where the Sunlight has hit the camera lens.

Today was full of views! #Hiking #MountHood #MtStHelens #MtRainier #MtAdams A classic set of #PNW views from Silver Star Mountain in Washington State. #Stunday #Nature #Mountains #Snow Mount Jefferson was briefly visible along the horizon to the South, but it was being shy. 🫣
A photo of receding mountain ridges with the nearest at bottom, with individual trees visible along it's top and side ridges that descend out of frame to the bottom. The trees and dense first cover appear very dark green against lighter colored brush covering areas between the trees, and some bare rocky areas in light gray along ridgelines.
The next ridge upward in the photo crosses the whole photo from side to side. On the whole it appears bluer from distance, and the trees look like a solid covering of forest in blue green with hints of shaded contours descending the lower slopes.
Above that is a hazy blue distant landscape that rises steadily to a horizontal bank of puffy white clouds.
Above the clouds is a jagged come shaped pointed mountaintop with it's high slopes covered in thin new snow. Darker shaded areas of snow free blue rocky exposures radiate down it's slopes from the summit.
The sky around and above the mountain is a pale blue with just a few wispy puffy clouds.A photo of a rocky pointed peak in the middle looked down on from a higher vantage in the foreground at bottom.
Above the peak, the top half of the image shows the blue sky with a towering grey hazy cloud rising all the way to the top of the photo, and another shorter, but more white rounded cloud at it's base to the left. To the right a grey string of small distant clouds hug the blue horizon with the haze of high white clouds far away.
The rocky pointed peak has one side fully lit by the Sun in light grey of rocky outcrops, separated by a sharp steep ridgeline with everything the other side of the ridge in solid dark shade. It resembles a very rough pyramid. The peaks base is surrounded by tall dense green conifer forest tree tops that run forward on the landscape until the foreground of nearby colorful yellow/green Fall grasses, short tough ground cover in pale rusty hues, a scattering of large grey angular boulders, and the same color rocky open patches amount the plants, and finally two small rich green well formed tough conifer trees.A expansive view overlooking rolling and rugged mountains covered in green conifer forests almost to the horizon across the upper third of the photo.
At bottom left there is a view of a closer very steep rocky set of descending grey cliffs with isolated patches of small trees clinging to a few places that aren't drop offs.
Along the horizon are a few sparse hazy grey low clouds that give way to two snow covered high mountain peaks. The peak on the left is a fairly rounded jump with some dark ridges visible before the cloud obscure the mountains lower flanks. That is a view of the South flanks of Mt St Helens in Washington State.
On the far right is a little less distinct view of a much farther snowy mountain top. That is 14,000 foot Mount Rainier, almost 100 miles away to the North.
Above the cloudy horizon and mountains the sky is a very pale blue that becomes a little darker in a gentle gradient to the top of the photo.A photo of more forested mountain views.
A foreground mountain has a rounded shape with it's right flank having a dense line of green conifer forest almost to it's small grey peak. The forest cover is interrupted by pale yellow/green grassy and small shrub covered areas that descend down the right and left flanks from the peak, as well as a few exposures of rocky dark grey cliffs dropping off lower on the left bottom flank.
Beyond the foreground mountain are rows of mountain ridges and ranges covered in more green conifer forest with creased ridge and gullies descending into unseen valley bottoms below.
In the distance the green mountainsides are blue from the great distance so the way up to the intermittently visible horizon with the sky, sometimes obscured by a few grey fluffy clouds.
A few irregular grey patches of clouds are scattered above the horizon in the pale blue sky.
To the right side of the horizon looms a large snow covered peak above most of the clouds and all the other mountains. Some texture is visible of it's rugged ridges and a few darker areas of bare stone exposure.
That mountain is 12,000 foot Mt Adams in Washington State.

#ForestFriday? Why, I can't think of having been outdoors anywhere recently...🤔 The upper part of the Umpqua River's watershed, and of course the high forest around Mount Thielsen, #Oregon. #Hiking #Nature #Trees #Pine #Forest #Lake #Umpqua #Mist #ECK #Scape #Landscape #📷
A photo of a rough brown footpath with stones visible scattered around. The path looks as though it may have been a rough jeep track a long time ago.
At the bottom of the image on the left and right of the path are small green ground cover shrubs crowding the forest floor, with some small native rhododendron, not in bloom, standing taller on the left.
Bordering the path as it rises through the upper part of the image are tall pines that create a canopy of green boughs up high. Lower on the tree trunks and on most lower branches are drapings of pale bright green lichen, lighter than the pine needles. The tree trunks are shades of grey and dark brown barks.
The path curves away to the left and out of sight through the tall trees.
The sky overhead through the tree tops is an overcast hazy grey.A photo of a small lake whose surface is sprinkled with countless little ripple circles from raindrops. It's surface reflects upside down, the dark shapes of tall trees across the water on a large hump of land above the water. The shore line looks stony with an even band of green and pale yellow topped early Fall grasses. Above the shoreline is a steep bare slope with a few small trees on it's left, and two larger ones to the right. Further up to where the rounded top should be there are enough tall skinny trees to block the landscape. All the trees have many green pine needle covered branches. The smaller trees being denser and more green than the tallest ones.
On the pond in the foreground there are some yellow/green patches of algae floating here and there, but not enough to block the reflection of the trees and the sky.
The sky is a featureless dim grey befitting the rain.A photo of a path between tall pine trees with many green needle covered branches, and reaching into a bright pale blue sky. The tree trunks are all nearly silhouetted by being shaded from a rising bright Sun that can be seen as a brilliant yellow ball at the very upper left corner shining through some dew covered tree branches. Nearly all the tree branches are backlit green by the rising Sun strongly so that they are in strong contrast to the shaded dark tree trunks.
Ahead in the gap between the trees where a path passes, a bright cloud of rising mist shines in the early daylight.A bright daylight photo of a row of tall slender pine trees grow in a descending row down a steep tan incline that is exposed in the Sun with no plants growing on it.
The incline the trees grow from starts at middle left, and descends to the lower right corner. The trees almost appear to be in lock step with each other in a somewhat orderly row, and nearly all of them are bent at their bases in a "J" shape to allow them to grow straight up from the steep slope. The tree trunks are strongly contrasted by more of the tan barren incline in Sun visible through them.
All their lower trunks are bare of most limbs for about three feet up, indicating the depth of Winter snows. The rest of the rising branches are dense with green pine needles that catch the Sun on their right sides, while the branches on the left are shaded.
Directly under the row of trees is their shadow following their line up the hill.
The sky seen through the trees and solidly above them is a rich blue.
A lone jet contrail cloud by chance almost has the same angle as the tan steep slope below, and cuts behind some of the taller trees in the row.

A little pan video so you all can look around the big pumice meadow/plain a camped on one side of. I learned that night to maybe not pitch camp where the trees only have branches on one side of them. (STRONG WIND for hours) I did enjoy just strolling unhurried around the area from camp though. 😊

It's been difficult to hold back until #WaterfallWednesday, but here we are! Cottonwood Falls, Mount Thielsen, #Oregon. The spring that feeds the falls only pops out of the ground about 50 yards upstream! 🤩 I'd been planning and dreaming of visiting this spot for YEARS. #Hiking #Nature
A photo of an alpine landscape featuring a wide waterfall at middle left tumbling over a rough cliff and splashing across the cliff face on its way down to the lower left corner. Bright green mosses border the falls, while to the falls right all the way to the right edge of the photo is a jumbled slate like cliff face with occasional small plants hanging on between the light ashy tan rocks.
The upper portions of the photo above the falls and cliff feature tall narrow green pines on the upper left, their tops reaching out of frame, and similar smaller green trees on the right. And behind the small right side trees towers a formidable high craggy mountain face in the strong sun. It's rocky cliffs vary between ashen white and shades of dark charcoal, including the twin summit areas jutting into the rich blue sky.
The Sun strongly illuminates the scene from off frame to the far left, allowing the tall trees to cast shadows toward the right on the forest floor.
This is within The Mount Thielsen Wilderness in Oregon State. The peak is Mount Thielsen, which stands at 9,184 ft (2,799 m)

I've been fortunate to have this experience happen several times in my life. Look where the stars *aren't* to see the mountain! #MountainMonday #Hiking #Stars #Astrophotography #MilkyWay #Oregon #Nature Mount Thielsen, Oregon
A jagged black silhouette juts up from the bottom of this photograph, lower at a mountain pass at lower right, to the peak with two tops just left of center, and downward after a hump to the peaks left. The left side is not so low as the right side.
This silhouette is off an entire mountain, with the sky behind it filled with all manner of stars. Especially just up from the mountain's peak where dense brighter clouds of stars, and darker cloudy shapes of opaque dust block starlight, all rising almost straight up from the mountain to the top center of the image. This is a part of the Milky Way we live inside.

Good morning Blue Sky folks! From the east flanks of Mount Thielsen, Oregon! #Oregon #Hiking #Nature #Mountains #Cascades #PNW
A photo of a tall rugged mountain, it's peak to the upper right with many jagged prominences and cliffs. From the peak area and to the left a ridge descends to a broad "U" shaped pass before ascending again to a lower peak that gently descends off frame to the left. The U shaped pass has many layers in the exposed cliff below it, of red and grey.
Below the cliff faces all along the mountain are steeply sloped fields of debris from the riding cliffs above, in pale grey, dusky grey, and pale red. These deposits run down to a valley floor below with gently rolling high areas covered in tan late season tough alpine grasses. A very few small conifer trees dot this valley floor, while to the left side much larger mature green trees populate an slight upward slope. In the foreground a tan slope of small exposed stone descends from lower middle right to the left bottom corner. A few small trees ride from it's top edge on the right, to much taller green trees that are partially shaded on the far left.
The sky above is a rich blue with several white jet contrails crossing behind the mountain.

I was so into my camping situation yesterday, I forgot #Waterfall day! So here is a grab bag of sights from today's hikes! #Hiking #Nature #PNW #Forests
A photo of a tall waterfall dropping down a green moss covered cliff and blasting into a pool below. Small rivlets tin down the cliff alongside the main falls to it's right.
Tall green pine trees sit atop the cliff.
From the waterfall pool, a vigorous stem runs down toward the center of the image. In the foreground either side of the view of the falls are several small young green pines. And in the lower foreground are some green leaved plants with some of their leaves turning gold. And a big dark wet rock at lower right.A photo at a downward angle of a curtain of waterfall dropping off a low portion of a cliff. The higher parts of the cliff rise to either side, with the left side more visible showing tall regular pillars of basalt columns in light grey. The right side cliff face is obscured by a tall pine tree trunk in dark grey, and lots of green brush.
Above the cliffs are a variety of sizes and ages of green conifer trees that fill the view upwards.
Below the falls are scattered boulders, all covered in evenly colored green mosses, while the pool below the falls runs off from it's right side back toward the center bottom of the image in vigorous white.
The bottom foreground is a smattering of green leaved native rodidendrons and a very small fir tree.
A photo of a brightly sunlit forest of tall green pines teaching into the bright sky.
The sunlight comes in from the upper right.
Foliage of the forest floor green brush practically glows in the light. Up from the bottom right is a brown path that disappears into the brush at middle bottom, with a few bright spots from the sunlight.A photo of a wooden painted sign with arrows pointing upward that says 'CAMPING", and to the left that says "PICNICKING FALLS".
A wooden split trail fence starts in front of the sign and runs left off frame.
A grey paved single lane road runs from lower right, and disappears behind the sign.
To the left of the sign is a tall shrub with green narrow leaves and visible branches teaching up from the ground.
Big brown conifer tree trunks rise behind the sign, and a few smaller bushy young green conifers to the right.

I found the photo of the big male! You can see the female sneaking up just past his rear.
A photo of an adult male mountain goat with a shaggy white coat in sunlight, standing in profile facing right in a meadow of tan winter grasses that are tall enough to block the view of his lower legs. His head hangs downward as he inspects where he would like to graze for more grass. He has a short white beard below his mouth and black nostrils. Near the top of his head behind his snout are his small eyes, just above them are his small horns curved back and upward, and his slim pointy ears.
His neck and front shoulder form a slight hump with a white brushy mane accenting it.
The background sky is pale blue with a hazy white cloud just behind him.
Just behind his hind quarters to the left is a female mountain goat approaching from the distance, partially obscured by him and his stubby tail that hangs down.

I choose this wonderful high alpine tree from my hike yesterday for #ThickTrunkTuesday! #Oregon #Hiking #Nature #Trees The mountain I was near played peekaboo for a lot of the day, and that was just fine. #MountJefferson
A large wind bent tree leaning over a rocky trail from far left. It's branches have a thick growth of green needles, and it's bark is a dark charcoal brown with a rough texture. The trail starts at lower right and climbs upward under the outstretched trees limbs, and continues as it winds out of sight near middle right.
The landscape is sparse of plants, dominated on the ground by various sizes of stones in colors from dull pale red, and light grey. Other areas of the ground are covered by old fallen dull orange pine needles. Among the stones are large grey gnarled logs from long gone trees.
The sky above the tree and trail is a fairly even medium tone grey of thick cloud.A photo of an alpine view across a green meadow slanting from the lower left corner to the middle right. The green ground cover are very low tough high alpine shrubs. Along the top edge of the meadow are tall pointy evergreen pines jutting straight up.
At the lower left is a small grey trail through the meadow that disappears into the treeline.
Behind the trees in the distance is a rising landscape of rugged mountainside that ascends into cloud draped slopes of white snow and glaciers. These lower mountain flanks are mainly a dark rocky brown/grey with patches and isolated linear growths of dark green forest.
Above the clouds, snow, and glaciers rises the icy white summit, jagged sub peaks and imposing rocky cliffs of the top of the mountain. Bright blue sky is all around the summit and the chaotic white clouds nearby.

This was my end point for that day hike! Spectacular, but VERY windy! Several times I had to crouch to keep from getting blown over. There was rock shelter to get behind, so it wasn't a deal breaker. But it was an ice breaker! The one in this shot hit bottom and flipped, then broke in 5 minutes. 😭
A daytime photo of a grey bearded man smiling broadly on the far left wearing a wind breaker that is blue across the shoulders and white across the chest and lower out of frame. He's also wearing a floppy light beige hat to protect from the Sun at altitude. It's me!
Behind me is a high alpine lake with no trees and gray green water. A single iceberg goats in the water further out from shore with an arch in the ice that can be seen through.
A rising mountainside can be seen across the lake with grey boulders and rocks all over, with patches of white hard late summer frozen snow. The mountain slope rises from about the middle left behind me, to the very upper right corner.
Above is a solid cloudless blue sky.
The wind was very strong and pushing the icebergs around the lake. The one in the photo only lasted another 5 minutes before the wind blew it so that it's bottom hit the lake bottom and it tipped over and broke the arch.
I felt lucky to get to see it!

Some tranquil images from Mount Adams at Bench Lake. A still lake, a gift that can be fleeting. The 1st image has the #Moon still high in the sky and reflected. The 2nd shows one of the long snowy high altitude flanks of #MountAdams. #ECK #Stunday #Scape #Refelction #📷 #Nature Click 4 full screen!
A photo of a still lake surface reflecting the blue sky, The Moon, the green and some grey burnt snags in the forest on the far bank of the lake.Another perspective with the still reflective waters of the lake.
The blue sky again, and the forest and it's green and standing grey dead conifer trees. In the distance, a high mountain flank rises with great stony cliffs and white banks of snow fields along it's high altitude. Only a sliver of the higher snowy reaches of the mountain is visible above the left flank of another closer mountain. The closer mountain lacks any snow or ice, so is not as lofty as the more distant mountain. The nearer mountain has trees most of the way up it's sides, except near the summit where some grey cliffs, and many red outcrops of volcanic stone are exposed. All of this is reflected in the water.
In the foreground of the lake, light rays from behind illuminate narrow bands of the shallow nearby lake bottom in dull brown/green, with a few stones and some submerged sticks visible.
One lone small stone pokes it's light tan tip out of the lake in the sunshine at center bottom left.

I recently hiked to 7,900+ on Mount Adams and checked on an app a few times to confirm junction changes. But ran afoul of use trails up through the timberline up a ridge. Many. The app helped clarify the line, but I opted to follow my preference by experience. No ai at all.
A high alpine photo of a summit in the upper left, shrouded in clouds billowing away to it's right. The mountainsides are barren of any trees, or visible plant life. Instead there are steep slopes covered in boulders and ice.
The slopes descend from upper left to lower right. At top center below the clouds is a glacial field that fans out as it drops lower through a gap in a high ridgeline, which continues to the left with crumbling cliff faces of dark charcoal color and also deep red, that have showered the snow fields below them with rubble. The snow fields from the high ridge runs far down slope, interrupted by barren areas of scattered dark rock showing through, all the way to the bottom of the image that is dominated by a small grey green lake with snow and rock around it's shores. In the lake are several icebergs, mostly huddled against the right shore which is mostly stone and rubble plowed there long ago by a full glacier.
The mountain side above the lake and to the right is a majority of the grey and charcoal stoney and ashen rubble known as scree slopes, with only small patches of snow and ice fields that rise to a small rocky prominence that runs off to the right.
This view is from much higher than the lake, on a Ridgeline at about 8,000 feet (~2400m). The lake sits at about 7400 feet.
The sky above is a deep, almost dark blue, due to the high altitude.

Tonight's Light Reading Life Magazine November 18, 1957 A main course of space race, a heaping helping of red scare, and a fluff bit of Von Braun (with a hint of Nazi) No, I was not alive then 😤 #Reading #Whatareyoureading #Vintage #LifeMagazine
A photo of an issue of Life Magazine published for November 18, 1957 Cost = .25¢
The top left corner of the magazine has bold black text "THE U.S.S.R. CELEBRATES SPUTNIK 2 IN THE AIR; VAST DISPLAY IN MOSCOW
NEW FUELS AND METHODS FOR TRIPS TO THE MOON"
At upper left is the magazine make is large Bold White type on a red rectangle in landscape orientation. "LIFE"
At middle left is smaller black bold type text "WERNHER VON BRAUN, TOP U.S. SPACE EXPERT, AND MOON ROCKET MODEL"
The largest part of the magazine cover is a photo of Von Braun looking impassively at the camera, he is clean shaven, he has combed short brown hair, appears middle aged and has unremarkable features, and his upper torso is visible wearing a grey suit with lapels and a silvery grey tie with a printed pattern on it.
To his immediate left and slightly behind him is a large scale model of a rocket pointed up out of frame towers the top center. The tip has a long rod at it pointing out of the rockets nose. The rod is red tipped with a silver section behind that until it meets a round red disk before the noise of the rocket. The rocket is white starting at the nose and all the way back from that. To the side right of the rocket a good colored dish antenna points forward over the edge of the red disk. Around the bottom side of the nose cone from the gold antenna is a single bubble that may be a viewing port from the interior.
Behind the nose cone the cylindrical rocket body has a large conical section sticking out from it and pointed downward, some red accents are painted around it's attachment area in a ring, and two red rings cutting up around the cylinder.
Behind that is a set of evenly spaced struts all mounted to the rocket that attach to a support ring for seven white cylindrical blank white tanks.
The photo background is a beige blank wall.

This was a little island of forested lake. The surrounding area was a jumble of ash and stone from debris flows off the mountain. After looking at the lake a while, I realized that the lake level must've been lower before the eruption partially filled it with ash.
A photo of a typical ashen grey debris flow field off of Mt St Helens, with a variety of small and large boulders and a few scattered small logs. The debris flow area occupies the entire lower half of the image.
The upper half shows a bit of tall green narrow scraggly pine forest to the left, more distant similar forest from center to right, with further forested small mountains, and a large hump shaped mountain to the right.
Most of the sky above is bright blue. Around the top of the large right hand mountain are a few tumbling white clouds with more blue sky above.

There's a trail at Mt St Helens that features some ladder fun, and other unique features. Lava Canyon Spoiler - there's no lava, but lots of volcanic stone.
A tall steep steel ladder viewed from it's top where I'm standing looking down. My feet tan wearing sandals and charcoal colored pants legs are visible on the top of the grated metal platform.
Evenly spaced metal rungs descend between side rails and closely mounted handrail.
The ladder descends to a patch of earthen trail surrounded by forest floor greenery and a big downed log.A view up a green forested canyon, a grey rocky columned basalt cliff to the right side, and a river running down the middle from two waterfalls higher up.
The photo is time exposure so the water and falls are softened.

Here are some views I enjoyed on my Sunday hike near Mount Hood, Oregon! Also visible were Mount Adams, Washington & Mount Jefferson in Oregon with thick smoke around it's base. You can see tiny Mirror Lake in the selfie shot! #MountainMonday #MountHood #PNW #Hiking #Portland #Oregpn #Nature

THIS is with the Sony at a dark site with the big Sigma Art. (And some image stacking, etc. Without looking through a double pane window 😅)

My favorite image from this past week's partial Lunar Eclipse! The crows, The Moon and Earth's shadow still rising over the lower slope of Mount Hood, the clouds, the silhouetted trees! 🤩 #Stunday #PNW #LunarEclipse #Crows #PDX
A photo of the partially eclipsed Moon rising over a distant sloped mountainside.
The top side of the Moon has a string of small clouds across it's face that are the same deep dusky blue color as the darkening sky.
The Moon itself has a pale ruddy color, and darker features are visible on its surface. The exposed lower portion is a gradient of blue.
Above and around the Moon are several scattered crows flying.
The foreground has silhouetted trees in the nearby landscape.

Last night's first peep of the Moon rising over the lower slope of Mount Hood with the silhouettes of two lift buildings for the ski runs! And some of Portland's infamous crows flapping through. The already eclipsed portion of the Moon is still below the mountain's edge. #LunarEclipse #Portland #📷 🧪
A close up a portion of the Moon rising over the edge of a distant mountainside (Mount Hood), all just below center of the image. The Moon looks like a dome with a slanted base. The color of the Moon is a soft pale gold with some of its surface features appearing a darker pale blue.
Along the mountainside's edge are the silhouettes of two small buildings. Those are ski lift buildings serving the middle and upper ski runs. The mountainside and the silhouetted buildings are a dark blue. The slope of the mountainside runs from a silhouetted tree at middle left, toward another dark foreground tree at lower right. Some other dark foreground trees are also visible along the bottom of the image.
The sky above the moon and mountain is a pale dark blue.
Scattered around the lower part of the image are some small silhouettes of crows flying by in the foreground.

That's a wrap for me tonight! Enjoy if you can stay up later! #LunarEclipse #Moon 😴
A photo of the partially eclipsed moon, with the lower portion largely in Earth's shadow and showing some reddening. Just a sliver of the upper part is brightly lit by the Sun still.
Features on the shadowed part are visible in this image.
The rest of the image around the moon is black from high contrast.

Aaand that's as far as it goes! It's going to start moving back into the sunlight from now on. So enjoy it while it lasts! If you have to wait until later, enjoy the full Moon!
