Yeah, I'm very much against the technology as it is developed, and a big part of that is the fact that none of the actually harmless applications of the tech could ever come close to justifying the obscene consumption of resources it takes to develop or operate them; largely due to their scale.

I think the big companies pushing AI are doomed to insolvency even if their business model figures out a way to make a profit, but if there's money in it others will pick up where they left off; hopefully in ways that are less destructive to society & the environment, but I'm not holding my breath.

I raised hell and fired my PCP after a random PA had to be the one to tell me they think I had a heart attack months after they ran the tests. This after months of being treated like a lab specimen and being told nothing. It got me a call from the local head of primary care, so there's a thought.
