I am not a planner, but now that I’m middle aged, decisions about where I want to age come to mind more frequently. I was hoping that Worcester could improve sufficiently to make that a reasonable possibility but with the current direction from our awful CC, I don’t see how.

Gah! Cambridge does so many things well. Finally made it over to see the new parking protected bike lanes on Broadway! So good!! I used to bike this a ton when I lived just off Broadway in 2019. This is so much safer and better now! 👏👏👏

When I advocate for safe convenient non-car ways of getting around our city, this is one of the things primarily on my mind. I don’t imagine people in Worcester are going to give up their cars altogether, but allowing a family to go from 2 cars to 1 is a MASSIVE financial benefit.

These deaths are predictable and preventable. All stories about traffic violence should include this context about crash locations.

Since the beginning of 2018, drivers have caused 92 crashes within 100 meters of the Broad Street and Silsbee Street intersection, with the vast majority of crashes occurring on Broad Street. At least 35 of those crashes injured at least one victim, and 14 crashes involved a pedestrian or a person riding a bicycle, according to MassDOT’s IMPACT crash database.
