The project has ~$10M of federal funding *that we’ll lose* if we don’t go ahead with this. It can’t be diverted to other uses despite what some say. The city has already spent significantly planning this since 2017!! To cancel it now would be unbelievably wasteful.

This area has a history of speeding and crashes. There are two elementary schools, a university, and two senior living facilities in the area. The redesign including two roundabouts, shortened and improved ped crossings, and other improvements will make the area much safer.

7 just lets you build on smaller lots so it’s not going to cause encroaching on areas that aren’t already built up. The real way to maintain green space is to build more density so that we get less sprawl and this is a small step in that direction.

The goal of the rich person is to get the situation to like: - 7 Democrat candidates - 2 Republican candidates So that even if 70% of the electorate supports Democrats, you can split the support to 10% each and force the two Rs through to the general election on 15% each.

I probably wouldn't do it the same way but seeing May get savaged for suggesting effectively using inheritance tax to pay for social care was pretty depressing. It seems like such a sensible trade off but I think because of that failure it seems unlikely that Burnham will be able to go that route.
