There’s something to be said for how most of the political spectrum can unite around hounding some lesbians over niche drama in their spaces but huge segments of society are silent about pervasive campus rape impacting a huge population of primarily youngwomen

I think its important to understand the campus sexual assault crisis is way worse than you think. universities suspend just 1/12,400 students each year for sexual misconduct & expel 1/22,900. once you read title ix administrators in their own words, you get a sense why that is:

1. The audiobook is exceptional, Hao narrates herself. 3. Draws together many thinkers & ideas in development of genAI tech, not just OpenAI 2. Don't want to deep dive through all the development & drama? This book is worth reading for the Epilogue and recommendations alone. #BookSky #Skybrarian

A sieged castle approaching starvation, nuns inviting miracles, combined with cannibalism & great cover art were the hooks that captured my attention. What really made this story sing though, was the braided narration shared by three female heroes: a knight of conflicted loyalties, an alchemist

On a yellow background, a nuns habit stands holding a bee hive frame full of honeycomb and bees, the face appears to be three almost cartoonish faces competing for space, a glittering pink sun behind the head.

The Typing Lady
"Believe in everything. Believe in nothing. The world is beautiful, and the world is a disaster. Accept it." A collection of character studies offering a complex glimpse into personalities that are emotionally deep, engaging, deeply intimate and achingly real. Each hinges on emotional weight instead of dramatic plot momentum. One would think that this lack of resolution would leave readers wanting.

“Each time America’s had the opportunity to break free from the ghosts of the past, the majority of white Americans have chosen again and again the security and comfort of the storybook version of the American idea that conceals what is happening to us.” Glaude’s newest book is so specifically of this precise moment while also displaying each link in the historical chain of decision making and willful forgetting that have gotten us here.

Easily the most optimistic book I’ve read all year, perhaps longer. In a time when the harbingers of doom appear everywhere, destruction seems inevitable and the entire deck stacked against most of us, David Graeber’s words spoke directly of hope and optimism. Not because of a specific criteria 🧵1/5
The bright yellow book cover of David Graeber’s The Ultimate Hidden Truth of the World… text in black serves as the background for his quote (also yellow and black) “The ultimate hidden truth of the world is that it is something that we make, and could just as easily make differently.”
