The GTA Speedrunning Community's fork of @cookieplmonster.bsky.social's Silent Patch is finally live and legal for runs! This is a great step for speedrun future proofing and stability, allowing us to fix what's needed but not stray too far from "true" vanilla runs github.com/Grovespaz/Sp...

SRC changed their terms of use yesterday, and released a news post with an FAQ. They make it sound like not a big deal. It's a big deal. The Creative Commons licence is gone. They claim ownership over the data now. Thread about what this means, and what we can do about it 🧵

Comparison of the old src terms and the new src terms

People never used mods like this seriously, they were always made to prove a point: in the past, they were made to flex your understanding of both the source and the target game, "I documented them so well, I can do this". Now they flex... that you have tokens to burn, I guess?

Was walking past this building and through the window saw this backrooms-ass room, so I accidentally took the coolest picture ever due to the window's reflection

A backrooms-ass room with a twilight sky and trees seemingly imposed over it in a dream-like fashion (it's the reflection of the window)

It'll never not be funny to me how many devs mess up setting Steam depots and packages when it is -pretty damn easy- if you care to understand what is what.

There's few kinds of mods I loathe more than "Fixes and improvements" that do their job well, BUT also include some meme edit that you can't opt-out of without modifying the mod yourself

Every time I see someone saying "why are you complaining about digital-only consoles when PC is digital-only through Steam", I remember this message I got over a decade ago and how it permanently altered the way I think about setup instructions

Apparently Rockstar has just two modes of work: 1. Twiddle their thumbs for years and do nothing. 2. Crunch people 100 hours a week. Maybe by 2077 they'll figure out how to strike a balance?

It's OK, Sony, my huge backlog of games isn't going anywhere and I can keep my PS5 WITH DISCS for a long time. Being able to buy physical was the only reason I sometimes preferred playing on console over PC, now I will have zero reason not to just go PC for everything ✌️

Steam will no longer be restocking physical gift cards at retailers due to scammers.

Can I purchase Steam Gift Cards at retailers?

Yes, but only for a limited time.

We introduced Steam Gift Cards to retail stores back in 2012, and added the digital program in 2017. Unfortunately, scammers use gift cards from major brands like Steam to take advantage of all people all over the world.

As we have continued to put more and more restrictions in place, scammers have adapted. They continue to have an impact on Steam customers and other unsuspecting individuals. So we've made the difficult decision to end the Steam Gift Card program at retail stores.

As Steam Gift Cards run out of stock at retail locations, we will not be restocking them. We expect all retailers to be out of stock by the end of 2026. Though we will no longer be selling physical gift cards, you will still have the ability to use your existing gift cards on Steam whenever you choose, subject to local laws.
