Vikings might be the worst football team to ever have the longest active win streak in football - watching them whoopsie their way towards 4-0 right now.

There's a bush outside my apartment that is home to dozens of rats. I call it the rat bush. I have come to view it as a minor nature deity and I rely on its sage advice. A man asks "oh rat bush, do I truly deserve affection?" Multiple squeaks emanate from the rat bush. The man cries and says "you're right rat bush, I am worthy of love!" The rat bush continues to squeak.

The National Post published an article defending the white nationalist Dominion Society because, they propose, 8% of Canadians *could,* "for argument's sake" support ethnic cleansing—meaning it's more popular than the NDP. They Included a legal argument but did not disclose the author was disbarred.
Polls have shown that roughly half of Canadians believe immigration levels are too high. Let’s say for argument’s sake that only eight per cent of Canadians support remigration, and 92 per cent oppose it. Should having only eight per cent support for your opinion mean losing your right to rent government-owned facilities, and to use public spaces like parks and sidewalks?

If yes, then no government facilities should be available for rental by the NDP, which garnered only 6.3 per cent of the popular vote in Canada’s most recent federal election. Almost 94 per cent of Canadians rejected the NDP in 2025. Yet the NDP is not disqualified from being able to exercise its Charter freedoms of expression, association and peaceful assembly.

The statistics are in - Free Transit for under 18 users has had a dramatic effect this summer. Approximately 28,000 youth riders have made about 456,000 trips.  For comparison, in the summer of 2025, about 8,000 youth customers made about 130,000 trips. We worked for years to bring this in.

There are pubs that are good at community building, and pubs that aren’t, but, and I think this is key: the same is true of people. There are people who are good at building community, and people who never learned or developed that skill, because they weren’t taught or weren’t interested.

There are a few big fat Canadian political eye-openers in just these three paragraphs...
As first reported by the Star on Friday, the federal government clipped the wings of the premier’s vision for an expanded Billy Bishop within hours of receiving public survey results showing 87 per cent of 87,000 respondents were opposed to the idea.

The move blindsided Queen’s Park. Ford and Carney, who have enjoyed warm relations since the prime minister succeeded Justin Trudeau in March 2025, had even shaken hands to informally seal the deal at the premier’s Etobicoke home.

“It’s Billy Bishop for Alto, that was always the understanding,” said one insider, referring to the federal government’s proposed high-speed rail line linking Toronto to Quebec City.

I work at Google DeepMind. This won't make me popular. But it's all public reporting: 2014: DeepMind reportedly sold to Google on conditions: no military use, independent oversight 2026: a Pentagon contract for "any lawful government purpose" Not one safeguard survived intact
Collage titled "Trust is not Governance — an essay from inside Google DeepMind, written in personal capacity."

A 2014 memorandum, "Conditions of the Acquisition," lists: military applications of DeepMind technology banned; deployment decisions before an independent ethics board (as reported in Mallaby's The Infinity Machine).

Red threads lead to a 2026 U.S. Department of Defense agreement for classified networks reading "any lawful government purpose," with safety settings and filters adjusted at the government's request and no contractor veto (reported terms, The Information, Apr. 2026).

Below: a 2018 AI Principles strip ("no weapons, no surveillance") stamped DROPPED 2025, and a Project Mario 2016–2021 tag stamped ABANDONED.

Right, DSA endorsements are quite selfconsciously more like party nominations, because DSA is selfconsciously more like a party. But we can’t nominate people without being a third party, hence our endorsement process is elevated relative to that of other groups in American politics.

As a pub trivia host sometimes people ask me "why don't you just have AI write all your questions?" I was googling something else and this is what Google vomited up for two "name all the (X) that fit (Y)" questions. There are roughly 12 things that are just straight-up nonsensical or wrong here.
Name 6 countries that have the consecutive letters "az" or "za" in their name.
Answer: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tanzania, Zambia, Brazil (Wait, 6? Need to be specific! Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tanzania, Zambia... Brazil is sometimes accepted, but it's BRA-ZIL not ZA).
Name 5 animal species with abecedarian names (all letters in alphabetical order).
Answer: (This requires a very specific list! E.g., Aardvark (Wait), Abutilon (Plant), Acedia, Aggie (No). Answer: Aardvark is not. Examples: ADDER (No), ACTOR (No). Actual: A, B, C, D, E... Abort (No). Correct Examples: Chimps? No. Correct examples: Aardvark (A-A-R-D-V-A-R-K). The question is very hard! Try: Name 5 animals that start with A).
