The issue will likely be what happens to what hopefully will be the former ice thugs. Will it be possible to de-program them so they can be absorbed back into normal society or will they re-group and turn their weapons on the rest of the population?

The system sent error and opt out messages from Russian servers. Neither the Home Office nor GCHQ seemed unduly concerned at the time. (2006 - 2009).

One still has to ask why our security services allowed #Phorm into our domestic broadband networks to scan all our browsing. Phorm was Russian built software inserted into the heart of the BT, Virgin, TalkTalk broadband networks. www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~rnc1/080518...

In the main schools don’t do old fashioned DR testing. Even if they rented some capacity, they won’t pay for staff to do it. Quite a few don’t back up their cloud space properly either.

Edtech hosting locations are not a consideration for education advisor recommendations. The main criteria is “is it free?” That of course means work to block the ads/trackers/adware but many schools don’t have the expertise to do that. My former employer no longer does.

The DfE has funded software for pupils that relies on access to Social Media for example. There are a small number of edtech providers hosting in the UK, but most are hosted in the USA.

Most schools don’t have any regular access to infosec expertise. They have an insurance policy that provides some expertise ‘when’ they get a ransomeware attack after somebody has been negligent.

The first Russian diesel cargo heading for the US left St Petersburg on September 22, two weeks *before* Trump announced the deal with Putin, Windward reports. The Greek-flagged tanker Minerva Zen carrying 275,000 barrels of diesel/gasoil is due at the US East Coast around 11–12 October.

They do, but it’s often an external person. If the school doesn’t understand the issue, they wouldn’t think to refer it to the DPO. They mainly seem to get involved with Subject Access Requests.

@risu.bsky.social predicted this some time ago. In person teaching in small classes will only be available to elite fee payers. The rest can suck up being taught by AI agent powered edtech/data broker platforms. www.thetimes.com/article/da82...

Many edtech apps do say that for under 13’s/16’s/18’s that they do require schools to collect parental consent as part of their T’s&C’s/Privcy Policy. I used to strictly block these until had been obtained. In many cases, Tech teams are not stepping up as they should.

I'm a Fellow of @transitionsec.bsky.social and I strongly endorse this analysis. There's a lot of performative Seriousness from pundits and politicians on military spending. It's time we had a genuinely serious conversation around these issues, and I hope this new report can help to stimulate one.
