A big failure. The argument about streaming the traffic cameras into the real-time crime center was that all the feeds were publicly available anyway, a fact that we now know to be untrue. That this happened at all erodes public trust in city government, and in surveillance cameras specifically.

@hannahkrieg.bsky.social a company King County metro buys a lot of buses from is selling them to ICE. Metro is a major customer with market power; that can be used as leverage against this vendor

This is made by the same parent company as the majority of buses in the United States and Canada. Motorcoach Industries (NFI subsidiary) needs to stop selling buses to DHS. NFI Parts (NFI logistics subsidiary) needs to refuse parts and technical support for all existing equipment.

Long prison sentences are a must for everyone involved, from Trump and Miller on down to the guards and admin staff. Anyone who works for these concentration camps should be hounded until imprisoned, just as we did with Nazi concentration camps.

HEY! New Flyer Industries! Why are your motorcoaches being used to conduct deportations, huh? This is a MCI D4500 ISTV - a specially built bus for prisoner transport. ICE is getting these and presumably getting parts for them. They shouldn't be.

The question that @guyoron.net asked Bob Kettle about why "Public Safety" doesn't include traffic safety — the consistent #1 concern of Seattleites in public safety surveys — continues to get under his skin. Just now Kettle once again implied Guy "doesn't seem to know" what they're talking about.

Seattleites are most concerned about traffic safety because we all experience it regularly: narrowly missing getting hit while walking in a crosswalk, seeing people using center turn lanes as their personal speedway, etc. Most people also know someone who has died or been seriously injured:

"You pay every time you board a bus, and that makes you think about whether you want to ride it. If you paid every time you used a parking space, you'd also think about whether you want to drive. Free parking doesn’t mean free markets; it often means freeloading." —the late Donald Shoup

Hear me out hear me out: We tell PSR to P[is]SR[ight off], electrify the new route, and add electric helpers to haul the freights up the grades. Since they don't mind delaying passenger trains, they clearly wouldn't mind a slight delay to add motors!

Notably, travel times also did not increase outside the congestion zone. This mirrors what we have seen in other aggregate congestion pricing impacts. For example, it was predicted that drivers would change their routes to avoid the zone, creating new congestion; this, too, did not happen.

Dude, I'm sorry but you're getting ratio'd on this post for a reason. It's mean and bitter to police joy, and to tell people their new thing sucks, because something else exists. I buy fancy bikes with belt drives and gear hubs. I don't go telling people their new chain-and-derailleur bikes suck.

You’re literally telling people “screw your new thing that you’re happy about” and there’s no merit in it! Nothing to be gained! No transit improvement to be made! Idk what’s wrong today but I hope tomorrow is better!

If the point of this post is to persuade advocates that transit improvements aren't worthwhile, I'd like to make the direct case that the line of argument is immoral. As in, wrong, because it does harm to other people's will to do good.

Freight delays will still happen, but that's the expensive part that we will have money to fix under a sane administration. The current one is vindictive and looking to sabotage us, but that should last about 2 more years. Having equipment that works is a step in the right direction!

Noah 🚎 @noahsbwilliams.com · 27/09/2026
Based on regular from crewmembers on the BN subdivision, I do not believe the first sentence is accurate. The current equipment is EOL and causing a litany of issues. Equipment cancellations are a major source of the Cascades's current reliability issues.

I don't think the hype is "overhype" at all; it's appropriate hype that builds momentum! Support for transit and other things in the Urbanist movement builds power like a steam locomotive's - slowly at first and requiring momentum to get to full horsepower. Reliable service is useful and a W
