Night bus vibes ✨🚌

That bus he's talking about, by the way? It was a 2004 DE60LF that Metro special ordered the year before this album came out to lower the emissions that kids had to breath in. We care here. Love my city, Seattle 🥲
2766 - an original 2004 DE60LF - rests patiently at 6th Ave S & S Royal Brougham Way bearing an Out Of Service headsign. This bus is preserved by MEHVA, the Metro Employees Historic Vehicles Association and can be ridden by the public during some excursions

BlueSky, I need some help recognizing a plate. This jeep driver just caused a miss-and-run. Cut me off turning east without looking at Elliott & Lenora. I had the green in the bike lane; he was supposed to yield. I had to brake hard enough to go partially over the bars.

I called some of my neighbors racist for supporting the SEPA bonus appeals process. It was correct to do so. They are. Some of them don't want Black and brown people to live in their neighborhoods, and they want to pretend that this extra bonus Seattle Process™️ appeal is about environmentalism.
Good afternoon CMs,

Noah Williams from West Seattle

- I was born in Alaska, a state where I was forced out of, because of, amongst other things, the cost of living.
- And growing up there, I saw a lot of environmentally destructive deregulation for profit.
- This bill isn't that.
- This is keeping the environmental regulations and allowing the regulators to enforce them.
- One of the most salient and damning criticisms of this county is that we've trained a nation of lawyers, not engineers.
- If you pass this bill, without amendment B, you'll have legislation with strong environmental regulations remaining in place.
- The bill eliminates the *private* right of action, which has been abused over and over again, by racist NIMBYs who don't give a damn about the environment they try hide behind.
- If we want to start undoing the damage done by the decades of _deeply malicious and racist_ "keep *those* people out of *here*" policies, we have to pass this bill, and do so without amendment B.
- To the old white people advocating the continuation of this policy?
- I see you, and I hear you, and I am deeply disappointed in you because of it.

Thank you, Council.

Talk about responsive councilmembers who hear constituent feedback: AMR actually listened to what I testified in real-time and integrated it into her remarks. This was my testimony this morning:
Good morning Councilmemebrs,

As a taxpayer who does not have kids, there is no better use of my taxes than feeding those that are hungry, *no questions asked*, because it's morally right. It's also fiscally responsible, because we know you end up with better test scores and more funding when kids have reliable access to food.

Imagine means testing other core essentials in schools. Textbooks, paper, pencils. "You must be this poor and your parents fill out a form for a pencil". It'd be humiliating for the kids and a waste of administrative time and effort.

The children aren't going hungry because we feed too many of their peers, they're going hungry because we spend an absurd amount of our budget on the police.

Last session you passed an expansion to the FreshBucks program which was awesome! Now more families will be able to have fresh food from Washington farms and fewer kids will go hungry. Keep going that way! Feed all the kids!

That was literally the reason she ran, and by god she's doing it!
TRU members post from Katie Wilson reading:

Hi All,

If you were at our February Membership Meeting you know this already, but others may not: I'm going to be launching a campaign for mayor, likely next week. Please don't post this on social media or anything like that, because it's not yet public (although it's also not exactly a secret).

This was not something I was remotely contemplating before the special election on Feb. 11th. The landslide victory of Prop 1A brought home to me how important it is that we have a mayor who believes in social housing. (I wrote about that here.) Through much further reflection and conversation, my longstanding aversion to considering running for office fell away as I began to think about how this could be a legitimate part of a larger organizing strategy.

I can't express how much it means to me, living in a city that does this. This really is the whole point. We should design our society so that children can grow up safely riding bikes and splashing in the water and enjoying the beautiful world. We've got a lot of work to do. But we'll get there!

I find this tasteless, and, honestly disgusting. Shamelessly plastering a dead man's face on a series of for-profit advertisements that airline employees have to walk by every day? Very poor judgment, this should be taken down.

Did you know that under Metro's guidelines, this wouldn't meet criteria for removal? Metro's policy is to remove *hateful* graffiti - this is the opposite. I would never suggest putting swear words on a bus, of course. But I can't argue with the messaging :D
