I’m a product of selective education (Hampshire, UK 1960-73). My dad worked at Southampton docks, my mum in a shop. In my grammar school I was almost uniquely from this background. I was acutely, uncomfortably, constantly aware of this. I did OK, I rarely felt OK. I survived. I’ll leave it at that.
