A pencil and ink drawing of a hannar from Mass Effect. Is it Blasto? Could be, but they're not holding a gun. Maybe Blasto is facing left, there's a slight green glow around their legs from some sci fi lighting coming from the right. The background is an orange starburst against purple.

#CoverReveal alert! Behold the cover art for our new anthology Haverin, designed by our own Jenni Coutts. Look carefully and you'll spot some sneaky clues to the tales inside. Celebrating 40 years of the GSFWC, #Haverin is out October 2026 from Taverna Press. #GSFWC40 @jennicoutts.bsky.social(1/2)
The cover of Haverin, the GSFWC anthology, which features a red-haired girl reading while surrounded by books and a cat in a green space. Text reads: Featuring: Neil Williamson, E.M. Faulds, Christopher Caldwell, Eliza Chan and many more. Haverin, Edited by Brian M. Milton, Peter Morrison and Heather Valentine. The back of the cover of Haverin, continuing the green landscape dotted with various creatures, including a robot head, lion, and a pie. Text reads: Haverin, Scots, Verb: Talking in a foolish or trivial manner, speaking nonsense. Glaswegians enjoy a bit of haverin and few enjoy it more than the Glasgow SF Writers' Circle have for the last forty years, following many hard critique sessions with a bit of a haver in the pub. This anthology is a celebration of those forty years, with more than forty stories of Fantasy, Science and the Odd from members past and present. Join us on this fantastical journey, turning havers into stories and revelling in the full range of writing that has come out of the Circle since 1986.

Our governments don't care, they want to make more money from fossil fuels while we die in increasing number year after year. We're being cooked to death and there's ways to turn the cooker down but our governments and industries are turning up the heat instead.

We need a hero! Bonnie Tyler has just died... and this is how The Mirror is choosing to remember her. (Not surprised but still disappointed)
A screengrab from an article showing 2 images. The first is one of her performing (big hair, red jacket, microphone, big emoting) and the second is from a photo shoot (plunging black shirt with boobage, yellow background). It would be fine but this image has been cropped so we can only see from her chin down, with her cleavage in the centre.

The solution to the paradox of tolerance is that you don't tolerate people who break the social contract with intolerance. GC is explicitly about preventing people existing as themselves and hence breaks the social contract. It is not therefore protected with rules of tolerance ->indeed never do so

🚨DR UK's Statement on the EHRC's New Code of Practice "We are appalled at implications that an adequate workaround is trans people using Disabled toilets instead. We will not be used as a loophole in the wider erosion of trans rights." Full statement👇 www.disabilityrightsuk.org/news/disabil...
Disability Rights UK’s Statement on the EHRC’s New Code of Practice
As the makers of the original RADAR key and custodian of the National Key Scheme, Disability Rights UK issues our unequivocal solidarity with trans people, who should not be forced to choose between risking harassment in public facilities – or not using them at all.
Image of Disability Rights UK logo in a purple box.
We are appalled at implications from the Code that an adequate workaround is trans people using Disabled toilets instead. It is a vain attempt to get two marginalised groups to blame one another for our lack of facilities, when the blame lies firmly at the feet of policymakers. We will not fall for it. We will not be used as a ‘loophole’ in the wider erosion of trans rights.
Image of Disability Rights UK logo in a purple box.
Our RADAR key scheme began in 1981, rooted in the understanding that accessible facilities can be the difference between living the lives we deserve – socialising, travelling and working – and complete social exclusion.

Our community knows how it feels to be scapegoated simply for trying to access the necessities we need to live. Trans rights do not come at the expense of Disabled, nor anyone else’s.
Image of Disability Rights UK logo in a purple box.
As is clear from this Code of Practice, it sets a dangerous precedent for the erosion of other protected characteristics. If the Equality Act can be up for debate in this arena, who is to say this will not be the case when it comes to disability in the near future?

As a result, the Disabled-led movement must make a clear stand against this ruling, not to mention because 52% of trans people are Disabled themselves.
