I found my brother's Zoar game from 2019, here as a YouTube video. Written in BBC Basic V on RISC OS Pi for the Raspberry Pi, this game looks erm... zoarsome? 😬 I really hope he can finish it, it's been years! youtu.be/ue3CLr6ePEk?...

A yellow Jeep Cherokee with black fabric roof, upside down on a snowy road after an accident. The black spare wheel cover has white text on it - "No problem" the right way up, but "Problem" upside down which in this case reads normally and describes the scene perfectly.

Today I saw the new 4 hour documentary Musk, directed by Alex Gibney. There were too many times to count that a sold out theater burst out laughing at Elon Musk, something he said or did, even sometimes just how he looked. I believe that is his worst nightmare come to life.

Thanks Gemini, that's very reassuring. 😩
The direction of travel is clear: convenience is a far more effective tool of subjugation than coercion. Society will not be conquered by Terminator-style killer robots; it will simply be pacified by an endlessly polite, highly responsive assistant that handles all the heavy thinking right up until we forget how to do it ourselves.

Awesome!
Hey, you've been really happy lately.
Yes, I got one of those new robots to do all the tasks I hate.
Oh, like doing the dishes and taking out the teash?
No, I never minded those things.
So what does it do?
More complex things like making doctors appointments.
Wow, that's super advanced!
It even maintains friendships with people my owner finds boring.

You should read this comment on a YouTube "Chicken Run" video... 😁
I worked on the game for this movie!

Story time: the interactive rights for the game were purchased by a small independent developers in the UK called Blitz Games (Formerly Interactive Studios Ltd.). There's also a story how that happened, with EA being very angry about being very angry a losing the rights to the franchise; but that's something for another time.

In the game, Rocky's character has no audio dialog at all. Even in the clips from the movie used in the game; he doesn't say a word, whilst the dialog is carried by all of the other characters. You see, even though the contract for the rights stated that we had free reign to use any part of the movie in the game (and as much as we liked) there was some fine print that we had initially missed. Mel Gibson had is own contract. We couldn't use any of Mel Gibson's speaking scenes in the movie without having to pay him extra. And the amount his agent demanded was extremely high.

We already figured that we couldn't afford to him to record any original dialog for the game itself. So we considered using a sound-a-like. That's be ok, right? Wrong. Gibsons management were also demanding a ton of money if we used an impersonator.

As development went on, the Oliver twins (who owned the company) went back and forth with Gibson's management. They weren't budging. They were still demanding outrageous fees for the use of Mel Gibson's voice. Finally, we just said "OK, we won't use any movie audio or record any extra dialog for Rocky. He'll just stand around saying nothing like a big dumb chicken."After all, the real star and hero of the movie was Ginger.

Gibson's management were outraged! "He's the biggest star in the movie, you NEED his voice! You can't do that!" they said.

But we could do it and we did. Which is why in the video game, Rocky stands around like the big, dumb, useless chicken that he is. And nobody who reviewed or played the game seemed to notice or care that Rocky didn't have any audio.

In 1980, Intel introduced the 8087 floating-point coprocessor chip. Plugging this chip into your IBM PC made math 100 times faster, good for CAD and spreadsheets. I opened up the chip to reverse-engineer exactly how it does complicated calculations. Let's take a look inside...
The integrated circuit is a black ceramic rectangle with 40 metal pins sticking out, in two rows. (This is known as a DIP, a Dual Inline Package.) It has three rows of text: "D8087-1", a cryptic version label, and then the copyright line with a big lower-case I, INTEL m c 1980 1984. The m and c are in circles for the mask-work symbol and the copyright symbol. The chip has a small semicircular notch on the left side, indicating its orientation. The package consists of two thin ceramic layers, bonded together with a gray substance; the metal pins stick out from this gray substance. The ceramic package is important to me because tapping the gray layer with a chisel will cause the two layers to separate, revealing the silicon die inside. In contrast, most chips are in epoxy packages, which are very difficult to open, usually requiring strong acids.
