L.A.'s version of Prop I just allocated another $466m to affordable housing. This is what Lurie is opposing for San Francisco amidst an affordability crisis. Such contempt for low-income and working class San Franciscans.

The pool of money is the largest in the city housing department's history, topping last year's $387 million.
Roughly 70% of the record budget will come from Measure ULA, the so-called mansion tax, which levies a 4% or 5.5% tax on L.A. property sales above $5.4 million.
Accountability was top of mind during Tuesday's City Council meeting. The spending plan, which now awaits Mayor Karen Bass' approval, includes an amendment requiring the housing department to provide quarterly updates on where the money is going, as well as project timelines and any significant delays or challenges.

• Anti-Jewish hate crimes outnumbered the combined total of all other hate crimes in
26 of the 72 months in 2019-2024.

• Anti-Jewish hate crimes were more serious and less likely to result in arrest than
other hate crimes: 63% were felonies versus 38% of other hate crimes, and 30%
resulted in arrest versus 57% of other hate crimes.

• Hate crimes against Jews doubled in the first year of the Israel-Hamas war compared
with the previous 5 years.
