#SpoonieAuthChat So Mary Sue fanfic is where a typically female character is perfect in a story. Mary Sue characters can do no wrong and are universally the “golden child” in any situation. They’re basically perfect original characters in an existing intellectual property (usually).

#SpoonieAuthChat Oh gosh, I would say I got the writing bug when I was about 5 or 6 years old! I had my first creative writing assignment in 5th grade and I ended up hand writing three pages and I just never stopped after that? I went directly into very Mary Sue fanfic and then original works!

Laughing along to the Murderbot Book 1 audiobook has been a real blast on my way to and from work. Or was until I pulled nearly every muscle in my chest and stomach being violently ill for 5 hours. Now it just hurts. Great audiobook though! I have a suspended hold on audiobook 2 through Libby.

One of the most annoying things about ADHD is the task drop. You finally start some long, possibly multi-stage activity, and somewhere in the middle of it you wander off and never come back. It was hard to start, and it's harder to restart and impossible to finish.

Oh! Good question! I would have to say characterization. I was very trope-based in my initial draft where they (my MMC and FMC) were almost like stock images of like a hero and mafia villain. I feel like I’ve real honed into like true characterization of Chester and Elise & they’re “actual” people!

Sure! So I started the novel in mid-late 2020 as a short story. In 2021, I decided that there was no way for me to keep this in that range and decided to take it to a novel. Finished draft one around 2024, revised all through 2025, started my final rewrite in late 2025 and now I’m finishing that!

Basil has dug out half of the dog toy basket and has left them scattered across the couch and dog beds underneath the coffee table. She certainly is my daughter.

I used to be so good at managing my time. I used to work a full and part time job and still find time to write and read and keep my house clean and lately it feels like I’m coming home from my full time and just crashing and the weekend is spent recovering and MAYBE picking up the house! Ugh.
