Discoverability for new SFF books seems way down these days, especially outside of bestsellers and certain subgenres. I'm noticing this as both a reader and a writer. Great stuff is in danger of sinking without a trace. Please post about new/recent books you love or are excited for!!! I'll start:

One of the most annoying things about ADHD is the task drop. You finally start some long, possibly multi-stage activity, and somewhere in the middle of it you wander off and never come back. It was hard to start, and it's harder to restart and impossible to finish.

My sleeping brain decided to invent some kind of shot that is tequila with hot sauce, and you put the glass inside the hole of a donut, and you're supposed to down the shot then take a bite of the donut? Is this a real thing that I just remembered in a dream? Also should I try this, for science?

Giving this a try, as I'm doing page proofs for Witch Is Mine now! Love my strange nerds. #fridayfling You can preorder here if this sounds fun: valerievaldes.com

excerpt from Witch Is Mine by Lia Amador, cover at the bottom right corner showing a woman in a suit holding a pink flame with a plush dragon around her neck, a man in a vest and slacks holding a book, a stack of books between them with papers and peacock feathers coming out of the top

Emelia looked up from her magazine, staring at me for a moment that stretched uncomfortably into a dozen. I had no idea what she was thinking. Unless she had changed over the years, whatever strange comment came out of her mouth next would be impossible to predict.

"Farfalle' is Italian for butterflies," she said.

There we go. "Like the pasta?"

She gestured at me with one hand. "They're also called strichetti. Bow ties. They're a lot smaller than the one you're wearing, obviously, and yours has smooth edges instead of ridges."

I fumbled for a response. 'Papilio' is the Latin for butterfly. The French, 'papillon,' derives from it. The dog breed gets that name from their ear shape, which resembles a butterfly."

Emelia smiled. I felt like I'd passed a test I hadn't studied for.

✨✨✨COVER REVEAL✨✨✨ I'm delighted with my cover design and art by Caroline Teagle Johnson, who nailed the retro, campy vibes I requested for my debut, THE UPPER TENTACLE! TUT publishes 02 09 27 from Union Square &. Co, but preorders are available now! www.hachettebookgroup.com/titles/amand...

On a faded background of a green tentacle on a pink backdrop, the cover for THE UPPER TENTACLE shines in all its pink, green, and red glory! A green tentacle coils upward, and a silhouette of a woman dangles one-handed from its tip. Title THE UPPER TENTACLE, in red, interweaves with the upper portion of the tentacle, and the author's name, also in red, is at the bottom. "February 9, 2027" is above the cover, and "Preorders available" is below it.
