Jailer and Xal are a similar brand but the difference is we have a lot more personal relationship with Xal as players and she has way better seeding, and has shown twice that she's not unflappable. Xal wasn't the Jailer 2.0 till post Voidspire when a lot of other problems cropped up.

And then when Shadowlands dropped, they showcased him in the Revendreth Zone. The fact that Kael got a bit of a walkback of his incoherent villain batting was welcomed, but Garrosh apparently was locked the fuck in as being the Literal Worst to the very end.

But back to Garrosh: When they first announced it, they had to do a follow up to say they'd have to some work to make us feel proud of him being our Warcheif or whatever. And for the most part, the character trajectory up till Cata more or less felt in line with that. Then MoP Happened.

Between the Horde and Alliance being more involved in PvE encounters with random other faction NPCs showing up as cannon fodder to having A straight up Shootout in Fucking Icecrown it was just, the fucking worst at how nakedly visible the hand of the Author was.

I feel like I'm one of the only people who remembers what the Horde Experience Circa WOTLK was like, because boy was it a time for anyone who wasn't a fan of the flanderization of Orcs. Between the ICC quests and the announcement that Thrall would be Replaced by Garrosh, shit was looking BLEAK.

I ain't typing all that.

Okay I'll type up my main point at least:

In my IMO, I don’t think there’s a reasonable way for VRChat management to fulfill the expectation of filtering all UGC for AI use, and it feels unfair for it to shoulder the responsibility for unethical usage that is happening much further upstream.

They should absolutely try and labels will go some way towards helping, but this is an arms race that a team of VRChat’s size and funding can only partially mitigate, and expectations need to be managed carefully.
