I can never understand why children's books get left out of "great book" lists. The books we call "children's books" are really books written for an audience that includes children, but excludes no-one. They are books for EVERYONE - and if you exclude them, you miss the most important books of all!

Help me please. I have been looking for a gaming account to follow on here for ages. It posts retro screenshot of games, with the game quotes in them. I can't find it and it's bugging me. Mainly platformer, 8-bit, indie, 90s from what I remember. Please help me.

You’re not violating a reading rule if you opt not to finish a book that's not resonating with you. Life is finite and we thus have a finite number of books to read. Reading shouldn’t be a chore. You needn’t feel guilty for ensuring that your time reading is spent reading things that you love.

A few, small (bookish) acts of rebellion & fuckery *prioritize books by marginalized authors (pre-order their books, it sends a message that this is what we want) *shop indie bookstores *celebrate the achievements of marginalized creators *read banned books *support library programming and services

This beautiful quilt is one I made with my quilting besties—it was a mystery quilt and each month we received instructions and a package of fabric. We got together once a month to stitch/laugh & support one another & this is the gorgeous result! Smaller wall quilt was made of leftovers. #quilting

Made this quilt for my special niece who was unicorn obsessed! We were out for a hike and when we returned home she saw this hanging on our clothesline. She ran to it and asked who’s it was—once she knew it was hers she wouldn’t let go.
Quilt with unicorn blocks. Pastel flannels, hanging on a clothesline.

I've been thinking about this poem by Langston Hughes recently and although it was published in 1931, it remains relevant as ever. #books #reading #booksky #poetry
A poem by Langston Hughes titled "Tired". It reads as the following:

"I am so tired of waiting,
Aren't you,
For the world to become good
And beautiful and kind?
Let us take a knife
And cut the world in two --
And see what worms are eating
At the rind."

There’s discourse about how children don’t read as much anymore and while it’s just one piece it’s important to consider that children need to see their caregivers read and prioritize reading to them at home to build that habit. Reading needs to be built into daily routines.
